Franklins demise
Pause the timer when within 8 meters or the item. Really gets annoying when your item disappears in your face at the last second

You have 90 seconds to grab it.

I was thinking it needed a shorter time. Lol.

90 seconds is nothing from when you first get hit. If your even remotely decent at looping you can run the killer for minimum 30 seconds to a minute If you reach a pallet or window.
Then if he does get you and you get hooked by the time you saved your item is gone.

A good counter to FD:
If you know that the killer has FD, either from having been hit with it before and recovering your item, or seeing an ally lose an item after getting hit, then the next time you hear the killers Terror Radius getting closer, or See them heading towards you, manually drop your item where you are before giving chase. FD will only attempt to eat your Item if the killer manages to knock it out of your hand, so Dropping the item manually prevents the timer for FD from activating and potentially destroying it. Either way, you have to return to pick up your Item, but as long as you were the one to put it down, you don't have to worry about it getting destroyed. This is especially useful when it comes to high value Items like keys, but I feel you should take a different tactic when it comes to Keys: If you have a high value key, and the killer knows it, It's always a good practice to manually hide the key in a corner of the map, so that you can go get it either when your next hook will be your last, or you know that the hatch has spawned. Seeing keys in the lobby makes equipping FD very tempting for many killers, so the best chance you have against them is to take control of how and where the key lies on the ground before they make that choice for you.

Then your item is gone, and you go find something else, or bring a new one. Big deal. That just means that's one perk the killer can't use against you until you get something new in your hands.

People need to listen to more players like this guy ^ Valid strategy, easy to do, no reason to complain.

I find it more infuriating when you lose your item when running for a gate but also funny for those who wait and taunt only to lose their item because they got hit on way iut

If you know the Killer has it, then just drop your item before entering a chase.

Some additional advice, if you want to keep your item bc of a protective ward and you're already on death hook and Escape is hopeless? Grab your item and jump into a locker. The killer can grab you and hook you and you won't lose your item.

Pause, lol
No, this is the solution to the fact that survivors can't spend and use their items completely now.

I understand that it's an annoying perk, but it's pretty easy to counter by dropping your item yourself in a specific spot.

If you are good at looping but take an early hit then it was your choice to lose the item, maybe don't take a hit at all or just die faster if it really means that much to you like a key or purple flashlight
