A Challenge Preservation Guide [Tome 4 - Level 1 Challenges]
Introduction
A bit of a mouthful of a title, but allow me to explain what this post is all about. Recently I have been doing some personal preservation guides for Tome 3 and now Tome 4's challenges, these guides focus primarily on preserving the blood-point reward bonuses that you gain when completing these challenges and each challenge that is saved is specifically cherry picked to gain the most "saved BPs at the end".
If you're still confused, then allow me to be a bit more descriptive of what I mean. During the first 2 Tomes DBD released, streamers thought of a way to preserve their challenges for use later when a new DLC drops. This allows them to get that Killer/Survivor to prestige 3 on the first day (or near the first day) of the DLCs release. This guide specifically shows you how to do this for your own benefit, but it also gives you an exact route you can copy that has been devised by myself as the best BP route.
A short disclaimer
Keep in-mind that i'm only human and that I might make a mistake that costs a few saved BPs on the way. That's why I encourage those who do take this example to go over it yourself just to be sure, if you want to that is. As for anything else, there will be a more in-depth explanation below on how to follow the guide.
[Tome 4] Level 1 Challenges - 270,000 blood-points saved
This is a complete preservation route that was created by me and revised by @Fibijean for a quick and simple review. When going over the rough draft of this guide I usually create multiple routes to ensure that the criteria for the best route is met, hence why I present to you with this one as THE best route out of the five that were gone over.
If you follow the routes specific guidelines than you'll be saving about 270,000 blood-points as a result, which can be used elsewhere at your leisure.
How to follow the guide
The image itself is pretty much self explanatory, but for those of you that're looking for a more descriptive explanation than please, look no further. As you can see above, there are two color coded circles or "nodes" that're accompanied by two lines that connect to one another.
The red lines that connect to the blue nodes are explaining what challenges you're completing and claiming the rewards to, while the yellow lines show you which challenges are unlocked for completion. The yellow nodes indicate which challenges can be completed and preserved for later use.
Why should I follow this guide?
Before going over how to follow the guide it's important to note what this guide provides you when completed. The goal here is to complete several specific challenges while also opening routes to other challenges that you can complete and preserve. When you "preserve" a challenge, you're completing the requirements that the challenge asks of you, but you're not claiming the rewards to the completed challenge.
Now you might ask "why would I not claim the rewards to these specific challenges, but I am claiming the rewards to the other ones?" Well to put it simply, by completing specific challenges and preserving others, you're creating a stock pile of rewards that you can use later on in the future.
After the currently active Rift is completed some of those rewards are lost such as the Rift Shards that these challenges provide. But the one reward you're preserving these challenges for is the blood-points, which you can use later on for future DLC and other things as well.
This technique is practiced by many streamers to create a stockpile of BPs for future DLC, which also gives them the ability to Prestige 3 a Killer or Survivor during the first day of a new DLCs release. This is primarily what this guide focuses on.
an important drawback to the guide itself
By following this guide you're cutting out a portion of the shards you would've received from these specifically preserved challenges. Now you might ask "what does this mean?" and to be blunt, it means your grind for each tier on The Rift will be slightly longer due to the loss of those shards when they're preserved.
This might not be an issue since a new DLC usually drops around the ending portion of each active Rift, if of course you're just using it for the new DLC. If it's for something else that's after that active Rift ends, than a lot more bonus games are required to make up for that shard loss.
Usually when completing every level for a new tome you're rewarded with around 30 to 34 tiers of shards. So around 300 to 340 shards are rewarded if every challenge is completed and claimed. When cutting around half of those challenges out of this equation, it looks to be more around 20 to 25 tiers or 200 to 250 shards depending on how many challenges are preserved. Usually when preserving challenges you're preserving the most challenges you can to actively claim later, so the amount of shards you get because of this may vary.
So to be more specific, if you're looking to follow this guide to use these challenges for anything outside of the active rifts life-cycle, than you're looking at a lot more work to put in to gain more shards that you lost because of the guide itself.
A player averages around 400 to 500 exp on a regular game, while 600 to 700 for a optimal game. The exp rates can change depending on the role, but the overall amount of games you will need to make up for those shards is a lot more as a result. 800 exp is required for 1 passive shard which the rift gives you when you meet this requirement, so do keep this in-mind if you go along with this guide but don't use any of the preserved rewards outside of that active rifts life-cycle.
an explanation for non-selected, In-progress, completed, or preserved challenges.
To start off, this is what a brand new challenge looks like when a new tome or level is introduced. Usually these are simply called "non-selected" or "unfinished" challenges. These in-complete challenges are also present in tomes or levels you have not completed prior.
This is what an in-progress challenge looks like, the bright blue light and shimmering effects that come off it indicate that the challenge is currently being worked on. A challenge will look like this when you select a blank or "non-selected" challenge that has no color to it.
This is what a preserved challenge looks like when you completed it but did not claim the rewards to it. This is what you're doing to the yellow nodes above to preserve their rewards. Once the "in-progress" challenge is completed, it'll change to this specific icon to reflect that the rewards are ready to be claimed.
Completed but unclaimed challenges also don't provide new routes to other challenges, so it's optional to take different routes to preserve certain challenges or complete specific challenges to gain access to others. When going over which nodes you want to preserve, you want to preview which routes to take to avoid losing more BPs than it's worth. Essentially speaking, each decision you make has an affect on other routes and challenges you could or could've preserved.
With all that being said, the example provided above is what I believe to be the most optimal route you could take for this level of Tome 4, so it's ultimately unnecessary to go over it even more.
This is what a completed challenge looks like, this means that the challenges rewards were claimed and the challenge itself changes to this color to reflect that. When a challenge is completed and the rewards are claimed, it provides new routes to other challenges that you can do. It's important to be aware of this when you're devising your own routes or following the example above.
Conclusion
Hopefully this guide can be useful for players that're looking to Prestige 3 a new character during their Day 1 release, but also just for players that're curious about the practice or interested in integrating it into other things they do daily. Perhaps for a future DLC outside of the active rifts life-span or whatever that may be.
I would like to thank @Fibijean again for her contribution towards the creation of this guide. The revised image she helped created was exactly what I was looking for in a guide such as this, but I would also like to thank her for her role in revising a lot of the text you see above as well. Without her help, this guide couldn't have been possible.
I do hope you enjoyed this guide and found some use out of it. Stay safe out there, see you in the fog...

you can look it up online.

Well sure, but that isn't as fun.

And where is the fun ? It's like if you would read online the ending of each movie you are about to see...

I will take heed to your guide and well done! Very organized and seems to be well thought out.

Thank you, glad it could help.

I stupidly unlocked first killer challenge, can you make for the rest levels @FireHazard ?

I don't understand what you're asking.
Are you asking for me to make you a route built upon the mistake of the first Killer challenge being completed and claimed? Or are you asking if you can still use this route despite that mistake?
0 -
No, I am asking you to build the routes for 2nd, 3rd and 4th levels as you did for the first one, which can save most BP and nodes as possible.
I already finished the first level as same route as you mentioned, but incidently redeemed the first killer challenge.

Wow. I love this game but wow.

We'll have to see what happens, I wanted to see how this guide goes to judge if it's worth doing anymore for the rest of the levels/future tomes. I still haven't decided if I want to do it, but if I don't, this example should give you an idea on how you can do it yourself, based on the example above as a reference for future levels.
But again, you'll have to see in two days (when the next level comes out) if I want to do that or not, I'm still not sure yet.

Alright, I usually did that, but it was fun to compare my routes to other people's routes.
In case you need information of the rest levels of tome 4, you can refer here:
Devs might change the condition for each node, but the graphs and bonuses will stay the same

Alright, sounds good. Worst case I decide to not continue this, but we'll see what happens.
