Can you show the true ranks so we can provide feedback?
I see a lot of complaints about the new matchmaking, however i believe we cannot provide accurate feedback until true ranks are shown.
We don't know if the ranking system is working or broken if it remains hidden.
How can we see our own performance based off your new matchmaking, and how the system determines what it classifies as skill, that raises or lowers our rank?
Will ranks remain hidden or are you planing to show the true ranks at the end of the match?

From the news section of this very website:
- "Why are we keeping the skill rating hidden?
For every player who gets really excited at the prospect of seeing their skill rating, there is another player who dreads it. For now, to encourage everyone to play the game the best they can, we are keeping the skill rating hidden. We have plans to expose it somewhat in the future, but nothing to announce at this time.

I don't like this as it sounds like an excuse.
Most, if not all games with a ranking system are shown, and i have never seen a person complain or dread about their own rank, apart from the fact that they want to improve.
The previous ranking system was shown and i don't believe anyone had a problem with it, apart from it being clearly broken.
How would it be any different to show it now or later on down the track? That absolutely makes no sense.
Again, we cannot provide feedback on what we cannot see. We don't know how the system determines ranks, skill or how it even works because it's hidden.
I also suspect we won't get patch notes about it either since we won't know if something is/was being changed, if it's working as intended or if something breaks, so they can just hide it from the community without any complaints.
To play 'the game the best they can', we need to see where we can improve, if we are improving or not, the difference between our rank and the people we are vs'ing, otherwise what's the point of having the matchmaking at all if it's hidden? Hell, we don't even know if it's working correctly right now, and i'm not just going to take the Devs word for it.

No, usually they complain about the rank of their teammates, or the (lower) rank of their discussion partner.
I read so many posts of "killer mains" that quite obviously never played killer for real, its not even funny. People try to get credebility by this, and mmr rank would just be the next measurement to dismiss the arguments of people not agreeing with you.

I wish it did, I want to know where I currently stand. That would explain why some of us keep getting rank 20 teammates.
Maybe we aren't as good as we thought we were.

So they are hiding it to prevent hurt feelings... about being bad... at a video game that should be 16+.... ok.

There's not many competative games with a working MMR system out there that outright hide the matchmaking statistics from their players. The players playing needs to know if they're doing good or bad, so they can improve themselves.

Which games are y'all playing. The vast majority of pvp games I can think of hide their mmr and only display ranks like what we currently display now exept instead of 20 through 1, a lot are using tiers like bronze, silver, and gold with different divisions amongst them.

The only real reason to hide it is if they think it's not gonna work properly. Saying people would better be able to know what makes it go up or down to manipulate it is just disingenuous. People know how to play bad and how to play good, that isn't going to stop them.
Hiding it prevents us from being able to call them out on it like we did when matching was based on ranks.
This is especially a nightmare for new players who have no idea what's going on. The only thing they see is ranks..that don't matter for matching..but make you think matching is screwed up...instead of the actual "ranking" that matches you...that isn't shown.
Like just look at how messed up and confusing that is for a new player...or even just in general. It's a mess.

This is the reason they gave out why they want to keep it hidden.
Apparently, they plan to show more at some point?

They showed our old rankings what is the difference in showing the new ones? I dont get it. They didnt care about the dread people felt before...so stupid.

"the pvp games I play don't show rank"
*proceeds to explain how they they do show rank

Thank you for proving my statement correct.

Well that's the point. If you can't see it, you can't complain about it.

Try actually reading what was written instead of what you want to be written to prove an unsaid statement wrong. I quite clearly said that most games hide mmr and only show general ranks. I don't even know how you can misread that unless you're intentionally trying to. Or are you just not smart enough to realize that mmr and rank are 2 different things?
Unless you're also the kind of person who's ignorant to the difference between mmr and rank, how did that possibly prove your statement correct? And even if you don't know the difference, why would you bother posting your original statement when this game still obviously shows rank?

"Play the best you can"
I personally don't think there's an actual system. lol

those ranks are a representation of your mmr. are they not?
so, yes. the games are showing you your mmr.

Mate in this game not even a general rank is shown so it's completely hidden

This is the laziest excuse for "we don't want people to realise this doesn't really work and we need time to fix it even though we said it was already up and running as intended."
1 -
"we cannot provide feedback on what we cannot see. We don't know how the system determines ranks, skill or how it even works because it's hidden."
This is by design not accident. Agree that not wanting to show MMR because of "dread" is a pathetic cop out. It would be trivial to allow a check box to hide it if this were true.

The same thing makes them go up and down, but ranks are a result of victory or loss with no measurement of opponent's skill while mmr is completely based on measuring your opponents skill in comparison to your own and fluctuating the rating accordingly. Your rank changes by the same amount on win/loss while your mmr constantly changes by different amounts. Ranks are a representation of win and loss streaks. Match making rating is an attempt to measure skill.
Also, if you think they're the same thing, shouldn't the main topic of this thread be more of a concern for you? They're claiming they want mmr to be shown. If you think that ranks are a representation of mmr, doesn't that mean it's being clearly represented in a visible manner?

do you honestly think I was talking about dbd there?
do I need to quote the entire conversation for you to be able to follow?

Can anyone name me a PvP game that doesn't show the ranking in any way?
0 -
They can keep up the cognitive dissonance if they don't show rank.
Lose as a survivor? Obviously i got paired with lower MMR players, nothing I could do
Lose as killer? Obviously got matched with SWF team 6 highest MMR players, nothing I could do
They don't want your feedback because they know it's a deeply flawed system. I mean just look at any of the numerous threads showing players with 10,000 hours in the game playing against fresh accounts, it's silly.

Of course this is an excuse. This game is full of toxicness that makes people feel bad all the time and suddenly the devs don't want to hurt the players' feelings by showing them their skill rating? Yeah, sure.
