New trend?
Out of about 15 games as killer I've played today in 11 I had Survivors DC on death hook. No matter how "fair" I play I keep having at least one Survivor DC after I hook them for a third time so I'm gaining all of those hook points, at least it's popping up on the screen, and it's counting as a sacrifice. I'm also getting the Quitter Bonus in post game.
Can someone help me understand why people are doing this? Like they aren't denying me any points and they're losing everything themselves.
I just... Why?

Who did you play as? Let me guess.
Freddy, Hag, Huntress, Deathslinger, Doctor, Pyramid Head, or Oni.
But really probably any Killer. They do it out of spite/frustration, they see they aren't going to win, their SWF buddy died, etc. If all they're gonna lose is like 1k BP, who cares? There is no D/C penalty currently and Survivor queues are instant (at least on PC, basically always, I think like 3-5 minutes is the absolute worst I've seen, vs 20+ minutes for Killer). There is no social penalty either, and they're incentivized to move on. I recommend Richard Dawkins The Selfish Gene. The parts about game theory show how this works.

Oh, I like that the forum is as buggy as the game. I had a long comment, posted, website freezes for a few seconds, AND IT'S GONE!!

Hahaha, the notification for it popped up on my screen even and I got super confused when it wouldn't open.

TL;DR - Because they can with no consequences and at worst minimal losses if they do it early. I also recommended Dawkin's "The Selfish Gene" for why.

I’ve been curious myself. It denies them why points and you still get yours. I’m hopeful someone answers this.

I asked the post game on the last one and the response I got from the 1 escaped Survivor was "some people be like that" which is true, but I want to hear why from someone that does it. Like I was playing 12 hook Clown and was never near a hooked Survivor except to get in range to toss a bottle and see if someone was coming for the unhook, lol.

One day someone here asked for tips on how to play Pyramid Head. I wrote a text as long as the bible and incredibly accurate with the best tips I could think of. I posted it and whoops... It was gone. I literally wanted to get moried by Hag in RL.

The ones who want to keep points will just suicide on hook. The rest are mad/think you won't get anything because they tried to do it before you got them on the hook, their friend(s) is(are) already dead and they just want to go to next match so ######### the randos, etc. I mostly see this done out of spite or because it's a killer they hate. You can even bait disconnects with shroud or yellow moris. Works like a charm.

That's the thing though, it's on their death hook. I'm pretty sure the 10 second sacrifice animation isn't that detrimental to getting out of the match XD

Could just be ######### servers. Seen plenty of that too, on both sides, just getting dropped at random. Killers who are winning carrying someone just D/C, etc.

- May be they want to de-rank but they do NOT want to ruin experience of all other survivor and killer.
- Or, they are really mad at this match.
- The third option is bug sync in end game where you will be kicked out before you really out of end game board. But it mostly happens to killer.

I’m not aware of the disconnect specs. How does it affect rank stats? @gelukrait

You will lose 1 pip, but you can not get pass level 16 (to level 17). People usually do it in the past for few reasons:
- Shortening queueing time, the higher rank in survivor, the longer you have to wait for searching match
- Bullying lower-level killer
- Killers sometime do it to get Adept achivement / trophy (easier pip condition and versus in-experience survivors)
With new MMR system, it may help you de-score your MMR as well, I guess.
