Do you think it would be a good idea to, instead of making a chapter, focusing on improving the game
The title says all. I have always thought that if the whole dev team, instead of making a chapter, would completely focus on overhauling many parts of the game (Reworking killers such as Legion, Trapper and Clown, reworking overpowered or underpowered perks, bug fixing, changing mechanics to improve the game, possibly change a bit of the gameplay, etc.) it would really pay off. Just one big overhaul, instead of just a new killer, map and survivor with slight changes. Do yout think it would be a good idea?

It'd be honestly great, but the same people now being on the devs' backside because of bugs etc will be as obnoxious if they don't get their new chapters, raving and ranting till they drown out everyone else, making proper issue location impossible (saw it in other communities)
so, it's a lose:lose situation, as these brats will do everything to tear things down

Yeah, that's true, such a shame. This game, while it already is great, has ALOT of potential that could be utilised with an overhaul to the game, and I am sure it would attract more sales too. I guess I can just hope that we get it.

Wasn't talking bout you in specific, but if the shoe fits...
But just look around the forum:
How many threads are there that boil down to someone demanding a change to something because it 'gets in the way' of their routine? like people who insist that Spirit or Deathslinger have objectively NO counterplay at all and demand them to be nerfed to the ground. just cause the people in question don't want to play different against them than against e.g. trapper. (though, spirit's counterplay is a pain in the neck and does need an overhaul, as her powers as such are too easily exploitable rendering the existing countermeasure void).
And that's the issue. the loudest voices appear to be people who demand an iWin button, painting their nonsense as if they're speaking for everyone and objectively.
The same people who will unquestioningly parrot whatever the big name streamers are saying, without looking into things themselves.
Best example are ptbs:
The general approach seems to often be
'I didn't play ptb but this streamer said x' or 'i played ptb but didn't give any feedback, how dare the devs not read my mind'

I completely agree, it is hindering alot of positive change for the game because of their stupidity and egoism.

thank you for illustrating my point, mate.

I think there would be more than one DLC cycle necessary. I would not even say that the whole rework/buff/nerf thing would be the main part to do, it would be the bugfixing. And the problem with the bugfixing is, that the source of all the bugs reintroduced/ new raised with every change goes deeper than what could just be ironed out. The game is too fragile and to address that, there would be some redesigning necessary in the core mechanics, which you probably wouldn't even notice while playing the game in the first place. And once the core is fixed and flexible/modular enough to make sure that not every new perk risks breaking old perks, then you could go on fixing bugs without raising new ones.
And that takes quite a bit time. At least that is my guess

Probably true, but I would be fine with not getting two or three potential killers, if not more, for an overhaul of the game and its mechanics and bugs.

I would like this, but eventually you will get bored without new comtent.

But, some bugs and other stuff could really be sorted out and make the game more fun. Oh, and maybe better dedicated servers.

To be the way both parties could enjoy at their fullest, Dead By Daylight must be rebuilt from scratch or they need to decide whether or not they will be competitive. Also, they need to get rid of the delusion that DBD's a horror game.

I personally don't think they can get passed their greed. Originally, they only expected to make so much money. Now I feel like they are to busy rolling into it the money. Hell, their cosmetics are more money than DLC. I wish they'd either make a chapter of only maps, maybe 5 maps and actual bug fixes. But it's always going to be about money to them now. Yes, I understand how I business works as I own one. You don't need to be greedy all the time, that's for sure.

their goal is to captivate new players, and get them to spend some money on a few dlcs / cosmetics. Longevity is not really the goal with the way they have designed patches / releases. They don't make money by fixing the game, they make money by releasing new content for people to consume

I would love it if they skipped a chapter to put all their time and effort into game polishing. In the long term it would be the better choice to keep DBD going and growing.
Unfortunately, improving the game is nothing they can really monetise, hence we will get more chapters and a lot of $ skins to accompany those. This is not meant to shame them for wanting their product to generate money, but many players are frustrated about the speed at which problems of the existing content are getting adressed. So I wouldn´t hold my breath on game improvement changes.

They should release their updates like Valorant: Do weekly hotfixes and then wait two months for the next chapter.

But what about the money? God please someone thinks of the money!

So you basically want a major QoL update if I'm assuming correctly. Well, same here.

YES

yes that would be the best idea but they just want people’s money so let the chapters roll out -_-

I love this game, but if the devs just focused on improving the game instead of adding more to it it would be so much better

The thing is, how many of you would give them money for doing those changes? Here is a dlc circle with no content to buy, just fixes. On the other side is a dlc that rakes in money, because the people play anyway. Which would you chose from the dev´s perspective?

I think it's better not to skip a chapter and instead devout a few mid-chapter patches to QoL and health changes.
