I hate this new MMR system, everyone is like "give it time" it's been over a week already and nothing has changed. I have played countless matches and so has my brother, who is on brown ranks as killer, struggles against most players he is matched against, and keeps being matched against red/purple ranks. You would think that since they've been tracking the MMR since before the update it would be less clunky by now but nope. Also there's literally NO reason to match a COMPLETELY NEW acc against red ranks. No reason. No matter how "bad" those red ranks are (most times they are not), it's not possible that they are as bad as someone who just bought the game and has under 10 hours in it.

That's the other thing I hate about this new system. Many people are like "well ranks don't matter anymore :)", and while there might be cases where that is true, most times it's not. "Ranks are not very important" is a valid statement when you have an extremely good survivor player who doesn't play very often (thus being in for example green ranks) matched against a red rank killer who plays everyday. Or viceversa. It is not, by ANY means, a valid statement to make when you have a completely brand new player be matched against red ranks. There is no way for that to be logical. At all. Stop excusing ######### lobbies with "well but it doesn't take rank into account anymore" because yeah that is very clear darling but I wonder what the hell IS being taken into account because it doesn't seem to be skill nor "MMR" either. And it's been a week. After MONTHS of MMR data being created during every match we play.

I also hated the previous system though. So I wouldn't say I'd rather go back. MMR is actually a good idea, it's just so poorly implemented that I can't stop wondering if it has been implemented at all, or if it's bugged, or if there's something broken that the devs haven't been able to fix yet. Who knows.

Definitely the MMR system is what's needed for real "balanced" matchmaking (in League of Legends there's also an MMR system).

But somehow that's not working yet and games are still a bit random.

What I know for sure, is that I strongly disagree with the Devs: ranks actually matter in measuring your skill level.

To rank up, you need a decent performance. You have 4 emblems which you need to fill with points, and guess what you need to earn points? You guessed right, you need to be good at the game.

I don't think the problem with the ranking system was actually the ranks, but the awful matchmaking.

Before, a rank 17 killer could easily face 4 red rank survivors. How they think this is fair?

Killers were facing high rank survivors all time, while survivors were facing low rank killers the whole time. This led to not so skilled rank 1 survivors and highly skilled rank 1 killers.

But this is all the fault of matchmaking, not ranks.

If ideally people were paired with the same ranks, games would be even.

To finish with this comment, I think that maybe instead of 20 ranks, we need 40 or 30. I think that 20 ranks are not enough to display the whole range of ability levels.

It's even worse then before. The last 5 matches I played as a rank 18 killer, I've gotten a total of 9 red rank survivors. Before I continue, I found it hilarious when you said that "rank doesn't determine skill." Tell that to all 9 of these red ranks that absolutely derailed me in all these matches. I understand that you want players to get into matches faster, but if they go in at a complete disadvantage, it's not going to matter anyway. I'd much rather wait for the few extra minutes to get into a more even match, than to deal with the total frustration that comes from not standing a chance at all.

It's a huge hit or miss and will probably be like this for a while.

My biggest problem with it is that you can't even see your own MMR and can't see if it increased or decreased during a match.

For the killers I play more on its actually getting me very decent and balanced matches, those that seem that they coud go either way. But for the ones I don't play that as often its a ranbow party of ranks and varying skill levels (from legacys, to people that just bought the game, with evererything in between). As survivor its very hit or miss, there's some that feel like what a good match should be, but there's others where either the killer is way above our skill level, or way below. Not to mention the random rank 17 sprinkled here and there. I don't even think these problems have to do with the MMR rating but more so with the actual matchmaking that is matching people toghether that shouldn't be.

I do hope it gets fixed and that it ends up working as intended because when it does its a really nice experience.

It needs more time. And I dont just mean time to calibrate, but also times for the devs to monitor it and tweak the logic once they have a good sized data set to work with.

In the long run it will definitely be an improvement, we just need to ride the storm until then.

Also, to those saying ranks ARE an indicator of skill. They are only a very vague indicator. All you need is to be good enough to black-pip most of the time, and single-pip some of the time and you will move up the ranks in time.

The problem with ranks is they cannot identify those people mentioned above (the slow climbers) from the very skilled ones who can double-pip regularly.

Not to mention "noobs" who d/c to make sure they stay at the high ranks. It's not hard to see how easy it is to "fake" your rank.
