Awaking Nightmare?
I just had a realization. What does it matter if you're Awake or in Dream World if Freddy can still be seen let alone get you when you're awake? Why bother waking up? Just curious on why does it matter needing to wake up?

His snares and pallets only work when you're asleep. He has some other things that are based around you being asleep as well, add-ons, status-effects etc.
EDIT: If you're awake, he's guy-with-knife-fingers M1 only.

Your chances of Survival increase exponentially by waking up. Be it by finger snapping, generator explosion or the clock, it's worth doing to get the advantage on Freddy till he hits you and your in the dream world anyway.

Sorry let me clarify. Why can we see him when we are Awake. He still can attack. And once he swipes you when awake its automatically dream world.
Might as well stay asleep and not bother leaving the dream world. Just avoid snares you can clearly see

So, this is actually a stealth "nerf Freddy" thread. It's not about whether you can see him, you're asking why he can kill you when you're awake. This seems like a question only someone who never plays killer much less Freddy would ask.

I was just realizing it really doesn't matter. Gens are done in dreams or awake. Avoiding the lullaby would be key enough to avoid being around Freddy. If he swipes and hits. It still counts however awake or asleep.

Don't assume. You oughta know what they say about that. I asked why is he seen when awake is all. Dont fet your panties in a wet twist.

Yea, that's why he's not as strong as people think, although being awake makes it easier because his pitiful slow down add-ons only work in dream world. The secret is you don't waste time trying to always be awake running around looking for alarm clocks, just do the gens and it's over like any other bad M1 killer. The only thing that makes him good is the teleport, and that is situational and on a long cooldown - again augmented by add-ons that require you to be asleep.

Exactly. That's my job. I do gens as fast as I can. And avoid detection. (Until a survivor brings that attention to me in the midst of that lmao)
But like I said. I find it odd (funny) Freddy is seen outside of dream world, Is all (partly because I woulda found it funny to watch a survivor get carried away floating lmao.)

Honestly, waking up isn't that big a deal. Sure, if the clock is there or if you know you can safely fail the skillcheck and still get the gen done, go for it. You won't have to worry about snares for a minute. Other than that, there's little point, and even in that situation it's usually not that useful, since you'll have 10-20 seconds of awake-chase and then you'll fall asleep again.

Right. Which is why it's a shame there was never a actual nightmare map. That would have been pretty wicked. Considering being in the dream world most of the game to begin with. As it is now in each map just makes the worlds brighter. 🤷♂️

And a massive FPS hit. He lags worse than anything else with his fog on fog.

Noticed that as well. Especially when someone brings in to thicken the fog.

I like his play style (mostly the knife finger wiggle when he gets a hit) but I play him rarely because it's so laggy, and this is on Low with their smooth frame rate ######### disabled. I tried turning off v-sync as well but that only helps on loading screens and not in game.

Did you not play before the rework? It should be obvious why he can attack while you're awake.
