A Challenge Preservation Guide [Tome 4 - Level 2 Challenges]
Introduction
Hello, I'm back again to present to you all with the continuation to my Challenge Preservation Guide post. In this next entry, I will present to you with the new route for Tome 4 - Level 2's challenges. For those of you who might be confused as to what this post is about, then allow me to elaborate a bit before we get into it.
Like before, this post discusses a technique that streamers have "recently" incorporated into their daily grind. This technique primarily focuses on preserving specific challenges in a level for future use somewhere else. Usually this is done before a new DLC is released at the end of a Rifts life-cycle, with the sole purpose of getting that new Killer or Survivor to Prestige 3 on the first day of their release.
Furthermore, I created this series to go over these routes for other players to use in their daily grinds. This will allow you to follow the most optimal route that I created myself, and you will find that the results are quite pleasing for those of you that want to use it.
A SHORT DISCLAIMER
Keep in-mind that i'm only human and that I might make a mistake that costs a few saved BPs on the way. That's why I encourage those who do take this example to go over it yourself just to be sure, if you want to that is. A full explanation will be provided below if needed.
[TOME 4] - LEVEL 2 CHALLENGES - 320,000 BLOOD-POINTS SAVED
This is a complete preservation route of Tome 4 - Level 2's challenges that was created by me and revised by @Fibijean for a quick and simple review. Like before, this route was one of various other routes that I went over by myself. As such, this is to ensure that the criteria for the best route is met before a revised version is created.
If you follow the routes specific guidelines than you'll be saving 320,000 blood-points as a result, which can be used elsewhere at your leisure.
HOW TO FOLLOW THE GUIDE
As you can see above, there are two color coded circles or "nodes" that're accompanied by two lines that connect to one another.
The red lines that connect to the blue nodes are explaining what challenges you're completing and claiming the rewards to, while the yellow lines show you which challenges are unlocked for completion. The yellow nodes indicate which challenges can be completed and preserved for later use.
Something important to note about this specific level
Like before with other Tomes and their levels, each new level has their own BP rewards for the regular challenges and the "lore challenges" with the note bit attached to them. Each level has it's own reward pool, which gradually increases when you reach the next level in a tome.
For example, every Tome thus far for level 1 has given a 15,000 BP reward for the regular challenges and a 25,000 BP reward for the unique challenges, level 2 has given 25,000 BPs to their regular challenges and 35,000 BPs to their unique ones and so on and so forth for the other levels and their rewards.
Unlike those previous levels though, Tome 4 - Level 2's challenges has one challenge that's a bit more unique than the previous iterations.
As you can see, from the image above, I have directed your attention to a specific challenge in this new level that rewards a different BP reward than the rest of the unique challenges.
In this image you can see a slightly different challenge that's presented in the same level. This challenge is also a "unique challenge" that rewards the normal 35,000 BPs and 5 Shards, which is the standard reward that each tome has released for each level 2.
This is also an example of Tome 3 - Level 2's challenges having a similar challenge system for its levels. Level 1 has a challenge called "Bronze Run" Level 2 has a challenge called "Silver run" which is this challenge, Level 3 has a challenge called "Gold Run" and so on with the last level being "Iridescent Run".
There's also a mistake with Tome 4's challenges starting with Silver Run at Level 1, but that's another thing that's irrelevant to this discussion.
Why does this matter?
Well, if you follow the route I presented above than this isn't an issue since the challenge itself is primarily used to preserve other challenges around it. But if you decide to follow your own version of the route presented above, than do keep in-mind that the challenge presented above does NOT reward the standard BP reward that it should.
Since other challenges from Tomes 1 through 3 have no such changes to their similar challenges, it's only fair to assume that this was either a change in how the reward system goes or just a mistake when the write up for this challenge was made. It was worth mentioning though in-case some of you decide to follow a different route of your own.
AN IMPORTANT DRAWBACK TO THE GUIDE ITSELF
By following this guide you're cutting out a portion of the shards you would've received from these specifically preserved challenges. Now you might ask "what does this mean?" and to be blunt, it means your grind for each tier on The Rift will be slightly longer due to the loss of those shards when they're preserved.
This might not be an issue since a new DLC usually drops around the ending portion of each active Rift, if of course you're just using it for the new DLC. If it's for something else that's after that active Rift ends, than a lot more bonus games are required to make up for that shard loss.
Usually when completing every level for a new tome you're rewarded with around 30 to 34 tiers of shards. So around 300 to 340 shards are rewarded if every challenge is completed and claimed. When cutting around half of those challenges out of this equation, it looks to be more around 20 to 25 tiers or 200 to 250 shards depending on how many challenges are preserved. Usually when preserving challenges you're preserving the most challenges you can to actively claim later, so the amount of shards you get because of this may vary.
So to be more specific, if you're looking to follow this guide to use these challenges for anything outside of the active rifts life-cycle, than you're looking at a lot more work to put in to gain more shards that you lost because of the guide itself.
A player averages around 400 to 500 exp on a regular game, while 600 to 700 for a optimal game. The exp rates can change depending on the role, but the overall amount of games you will need to make up for those shards is a lot more as a result. 800 exp is required for 1 passive shard which the rift gives you when you meet this requirement, so do keep this in-mind if you go along with this guide but don't use any of the preserved rewards outside of that active rifts life-cycle.
AN EXPLANATION FOR NON-SELECTED, IN-PROGRESS, COMPLETED, OR PRESERVED CHALLENGES.
To start off, this is what a brand new challenge looks like when a new tome or level is introduced. Usually these are simply called "non-selected" or "unfinished" challenges. These in-complete challenges are also present in tomes or levels you have not completed prior.
This is what an in-progress challenge looks like, the bright blue light and shimmering effects that come off it indicate that the challenge is currently being worked on. A challenge will look like this when you select a blank or "non-selected" challenge that has no color to it.
This is what a preserved challenge looks like when you completed it but did not claim the rewards to it. This is what you're doing to the yellow nodes above to preserve their rewards. Once the "in-progress" challenge is completed, it'll change to this specific icon to reflect that the rewards are ready to be claimed.
Completed but unclaimed challenges also don't provide new routes to other challenges, so it's optional to take different routes to preserve certain challenges or complete specific challenges to gain access to others. When going over which nodes you want to preserve, you want to preview which routes to take to avoid losing more BPs than it's worth. Essentially speaking, each decision you make has an affect on other routes and challenges you could or could've preserved.
With all that being said, the example provided above is what I believe to be the most optimal route you could take for this level of Tome 4, so it's ultimately unnecessary to go over it even more.
This is what a completed challenge looks like, this means that the challenges rewards were claimed and the challenge itself changes to this color to reflect that. When a challenge is completed and the rewards are claimed, it provides new routes to other challenges that you can do. It's important to be aware of this when you're devising your own routes or following the example above.
conclusion
As always I do hope some of you found this guide useful in some way. The guide itself can be discouraging due to the limited amount of shards you'll gain as a result, but if you're focusing on a day 1 P3 of a new DLC's Killer/Survivor, than this is the best route that I recreated for you to use.
I would like to thank @Fibijean for her contribution to the guide itself, without her this next entry could not have been possible. As for everyone else, Stay safe out there, see you in the fog...

Nice, but it's a bit late for me. I went wrong path and unlocked the killer path since level 2 unlocked few hours (though the survivor's epilogue will unlocked either but it was not).
But thanks any way, bro. Lets keep it up for next coming levels.

Great guide ! Thanks !
But like @gelukrait , too late for me too, if only i discovered this thread earlier ... ποΈ
@FireHazard , did you already check levels 3 & 4 before their release ( via https://dbd.onteh.net.au/archives ) to get a sneak peek of future guides ? π
I tried a first approach, and i got 410,000 bloodpoints saved for level 3, and got 510,000 bloodpoints saved for level 4. Don't know if it's the best value. π€

Alright, sounds good. Hopefully you'll find some use out of the next 2 entries.

I don't really look ahead for stuff like that, I just do it when the level releases. I can't really create a revised version of the future levels if there's no image for reference.
I'm sure the site provides one, but again, it's probably not something that's usable. More-so because of the quality the image might be in, but also because I probably can't release guides for levels that're not released yet. This means that if that's the case, than I wouldn't be able to release the new level until the day it's released anyways, so doing it ahead of time isn't helpful.
