Might have been an SWF. There was a change a while back where it is supposed match the killer based on the highest SWF rank, but that bugged out (also) months ago and stopped doing that. So, it probably matched you based on their lowest member, yet again.

Probably is the case along with the current level of the archives encouraging survivors to play in SWF because of "Item of Interest"(Escape with an item of very rare(Purple) rarity or higher). Most players don't have a lot of purples to throw around so they join friends to complete it.
Also it's only this way since the only other way to complete the survivor path is to have Ace(Not the most popular survivor), so the game is SWF going all out as far as the eye can see right now.

Yeah, tell me about it. I just play for the hell of it, but going against so many obvious SWFs, whether they're good or not, is getting asinine. Most are still on comms, and it's making playing my favorite stealth killers damned near pointless.
I loathe these challenges. I hated them in Paladins and what they did to the quality of matches, and I hate them as much here. They were actually the main contributing factor to why I finally uninstalled Paladins.

I had a match today, all pc players, where I was Rank 4 killer against Rank 13, 15, 10, and 17 Survivors. If you're on PC my guess is that MM is a bit jacked due to PTB.

Lol, I came here to ask about the same thing. I haven't played in over a year and I came back to the game a couple of days ago and this is my experience in every. single. match:
Why the hell am I being matched against red rank players in every match at level 12? I just want to learn new killers (I'm new to the huntress) but every match is against red ranks?? I had two rank one players against me in the same match earlier?? Shouldn't crossplay have fixed this because of the wider pool of players?

First thing, and this is just me guessing, there are wayyy wayyy more red survivors than red killers so some of the red survivors will have to be paired against lower killers. Now 4 to 12 is a big gap but it’s only slightly bigger than their range of 6 so this is kind of “acceptable,” by BHVR guidelines. Not mine, but by the devs.
Second, their weird triangle of matchmaking puts quick time and good ping ahead of proper ranks. Basically they have stated that getting an unfair game in 1 minute Is better than waiting 5 minutes to play against people of equal skill.

Ughhhh all of that really kind of sucks, honestly. I just want to have like, you know, fair matches, where I'm not playing against people who have 2000 hours on survivor & know all of the loops and exploits by heart. I used to be a red rank killer and I stopped playing for over a year for a reason--because those matches suck all of the fun out of the game.

I hear ya, the bad thing is the new MMR while it was in effect for a couple days was arguably even worse!!!
But yeah sweaty high stress red rank games aren’t “enjoyable.” I can do well in those games if I play top killers, or even mid tier killers with strong perk/addon setups... but I wanna play FUN builds.
I started screwing around with Mad grit, iron grasp, agitation and hangman’s trick but the only killer it even remotely worked on was Hag because she’s so strong her perks almost don’t matter. Playing as clown, trapper, wraith and Demo with that build was just frustrating

Oh yeah, for sure. Tbh I don't have -any- builds on any of my killers. I only have one killer with teachables because I never used to put bloodpoints into killers, so I just play everyone with their default perks for the most part & I only have like 3 killers with more than two perks. RIP I guess.

Quick tip, if you’re in PC and if you wanna try to gain back some advantage, Watch for the globe symbol that means people are from console... they are generally at least a little worse than players of the same rank on PC.
Not always, but I’ve faced some cross play rank 3s that almost played like a rank 15. If you get all PC players then dodge lobby... I hate suggesting that ever but maybe because the system is so bad do what you need to do.

Lol, I've been learning how to play huntress and nurse so I've basically been doing exactly that. I'm a sniper main in every game so I've been doing pretty good as huntress--and I think it really is because console survivors don't expect me to be able to hatchet snipe them across the map.

Tell me about it. :) I hover between rank 10-11 (mostly 11) and constantly fight teams that 1-5 in Ranking. I'm like, uh, shouldn't these guys be fighting Purples? :)
