DC reasons
Just as feedback to the comments like "remove DC penalty, it just hurts X and doesn't work and blah"
Had a doc DCing with the reason "I wasted too much time on one guy"...
So if anyone thinks about legit reason to DC, here is one for your list of "never could imagine". This one actually sounds like "I got a hole in my bottom line in Tetris, so I restart". Summary: People DC for the most ridiculous reasons and that's why penalty is a good thing, like there is in every multiplayer team game. Sure agreed on "it should work properly", but the argumentation against penalties are kinda lazy.
Glad they are back, I just hope Tru3 does not have a 72h ban when he starts streaming tomorrow :P

There are actually a lot of legitimate reasons for DCing. One is the fact that the game is pretty damn unstable. Another is the fact that the game is pretty damned buggy. A third is the fact that not all non-bug-related DC's are ragequits: A lot of people have decided that holding the game hostage is the way to go.

if i ever dc its because im bored enough of that game, and i usually stay to die when slugged so imagine how bad it must be

penalty pointless survivor will just kill them self on first hook, this also not a normal multiplayer team game it 4vs1 very different then most multiplayer game this not cod people.

You wanna tell me that legit DCs are more often than "I got downed first" DCs?

They arnt and never will be
but it won’t stop people from doing it

If you slug me to find the last survivor I’m going to insta DC. Every...single...time. I only play solo queue. I have no desire to waste 4 minutes of my life. Even if it means not being able to play for 12 hours, I don’t care.
imagine if survivors could form an unbreakable bubble for 4 minutes and sit on the last gen at 99% as you stare on. Yuck

OK, thanks for confirmation. this is a biatch DC and has nothing to do with bugs or whatever legit reason was listed so far. And this is what I see 90% of the time: DC right after a down

Got stuck in the hill twice today and both times the killer left me there for the entire match... the killer got an easy 3v1 and I was stuck there unable to do anything. Fun. I wish they had fixed the damn hill glitch before re-enabling DC penalties.

This is a legit reason. In my opinion 10% of all DCs. Anyway, just posted this:

That’s not dc’ing right after being downed. Reading comprehension might come in handy for you. Careful circumventing bad words, mods don’t like that 👏

"If you slug me to find the last survivor I’m going to insta DC"
-> "That’s not dc’ing right after being downed"
please enlighten me

Buddy, you are far from the only one. The bug reports forum is 99% hill bug posts.

The only few legitimate reasons why you should DC:
Bug/Glitch making you unable to play the match in the intended way. (Example: skill checks suddenly being invisible for Survivor, getting stuck in hills, getting stuck on something as Killer, getting stuck in a Locker as Survivor, Nurse suddenly being unable to blink for the rest of the match)
Someone abusing an exploit and the match cannot proceed in a intended way. (Example: Survivors climbing onto objects and you can't get to or hit them as Killer)
Hostage Situation (Example: Killer block blocks a Survivor in a corner and refuses to move for 5+ minutes with no EGC active, Survivor's deciding to play immersive simulator and refuse to touch a generator for 10+ minutes)
Electricity/Internet/PC/Console/Etc. decided it didn't want to work mid match and turned off of it's own volition.
Real Life Emergencies/Priorities.

I believe my record for resluged is at 5, meaning I was slugged and gotten up again 4 times in one match while the Spirit looked for the other surv. And I didn't dc. The only message I got was "no one gets hatch."
In fact I think I've only dc'd on purpose like twice in something like 1100hrs. Any other dc was due to the game believing I had no internet connection (despite the party and my stream being fine) and similar game tossing me out scenarios. I've collected maybe 4 baby matchmaking penalties ever.
My choice is to stay and fight it out. Others feel differently.

As a survivor main there are 3 reasons I will DC, and I don't even necessarily DC every time one of them happens:
1) Technical issues -the stuck on a hill thing. Lag so bad it's unplayable. Skill checks aren't showing up.
2) Other survivors just hook farming with the killer. If I see the other 3 survivors (or even 2) doing nothing but taking turns getting hooked and immediately unhooking each other I'm out.
3) Killer that is AFK. If I'm on one of those matches where the killer is just standing there I'm DC'ing. Maybe they had a legit emergency and had to leave the game, but bottom line is that's not even a fun game.

Nice attitude. Actually I had some of the best moments by hanging in there, like outplaying an Iri Head/Mori Huntress to get 2 escapes through the exit gates, having a slugging Spirit wasting 10+ minutes to allow me to find a key, then hatch, heal the slug, take a hit and both escape through hatch or 15 minutes against a doc that downed me and another guy each 3 times, so that I could escape with Unbreakable + Dead Hard while the other guy bled out right after I used Dead Hard and the hatch opened in front of me.

Does one mean that the other should be punished?

The only way I DC is if OoO on a map they sent me, yeah like OoO is a very fair perk and now on a map that they want......that is so much fuuuuun!!!!! /s
Oh actually, I have dc'ed before when survivors were playing waaaaaay too immersed on Midwich , even with whispers and bbq, I could not see them at all.
Edit: I'm not single pointing one side.
When I play survivor and see a spirit + stridor + 1 hook mori, I try to die asap or DC.
Yesterday I had a match like that, the spirit wanted a 4k 1 hook mori so bad that I almost bled out in game, I usually try to only run 1 meta perk for survivor either DS or unbreakable not both but if I had both I would've probably made it.

Your counter question actually has nothing to do with my question...
From my opinion, of course bug DCs should not be punished, but it is not possible to determine that. But as I say that I experience 90% baby DCs I would estimate that real issue DCs are rare enough to keep you at 5-15 minute penalty. Once a month. I actually never had to DC because of a bug so far.
And you seemed like you want to defend penalty free DC and it sounds like i your opinion there are more legitimate reasons than others. And that's what I questioned
