My crossplay experience so far as a PS4 player

I’m playing DBD with enabled crossplay, I was looking forward to this function because I have PC and Xbox friends. I would say I play killer mostly about 70-30 ratio.

My survivor experience is quite okay, tho I observed there are more killers who are face camping from the beginning.

Killer experience on red-high purple rank is terrible. Since the cross play turned on majority of my games are sweaty. There is almost a map offering every game, every third lobby is with a key. The in-game experience is generally sweaty. While I was playing againts ps4 players I thought lower rank killers can be viable in red ranks, but I was naive tbh. I can barely experiment with different perks. Nevertheless the most concerning issue is the framerate. Indoor maps, maps with dense grass (Yamaoka) are generally very laggy. In addition to that the killer power can lag as well (Legion, Deathslinger). Sometimes just survivors teleport away from me, etc.

There is one positive side of the crossplay as a killer. It showed me I am not really a rank 1-2-3 killer and there is a lot of room for improvement. I guess at least I figured out my true rank.

I played mostly Killer due to the very long queues for survivors on the PS4. As a PS4 player during queue times I used to eat a sandwich, clean the plate, grab some drinks, see that nu fridge is empty, go the store, get home Just in time to switch some perks around.

Now I play much more survivor with cross-play enabled and I really like it. Loading times are insanely good. Killers are quiet good as well (or my team/myself are very bad since I'm currently only rank 11 matched with lower ranks). Now I see that the red ranks I face as a killer are exeptional good survivors most of the time with insane looping skills and not the baseline survivors around rank 7-12.

Regarding camping, some killers will camp but those are mainly the level 16-20 who probably just started playing the game so I understand. Furthemore there are plenty of second chance perks to destroy camping killers (BT, Unbreakable, MoM, souldguard, DS, adrenaline etc). Finally as a survivor I do not see any difference in camping between PS4 and other platforms.

Your killers perspective I totally agree. As a killer I noticed that the queue times increased drastically when cross-play enables. That in combination with the horrific frame rates and the disadvantage of this FPS versus PC made me stop cross-playing as a killer. I'm a red rank killer but you just got tormented around by survivors with the current state of the PS4 (both by ps4 and PC survivors btw).

I knew I wasnt the only one. As a console Killer main crossplay is terrible. I dont know if PC players are skill-wise on a different level, or if its the disadvantages like framerate and so on, but I dont think I 4ked a single match against PC-only Survivors. I didnt conside myself a bad killer, but my games resemble what its like for me to play against a baby-killer. Then theres the fact that you cant even switch killers when you see a probable 4man swf with Steam names, because even though MMR is disabled the killer still locks when starting to queue. I dont want to play my Wraith or Legion against those survivors, I know I probably dont have a chance but im forced to play the Killer I selected pre lobby. At this point I'd gladly depip, but even when completely destroyed dont always loose a pip.

I know this probably just sounds like a whiny rant, which it kinda is, but I just had to type this out somewhere. I just didnt enjoy a single game against pc, neither did I feel like I had a fair chance of winning. I also know I can disable crossplay, which I might but honestly I think im too stubborn for that, so either I'll get used to this, swap to survivor more often or just wont play at all

Yeah I still didn’t disable it, tho waiting time isn’t great. I’m trying to get better and hope for the new MMR

Been a bit of a 50/50 experience for me with crossplay on, i do lose a lot more games now though with lower tier killer's as you'd expect with going up against higher fps users. For now, It's off for when i play clown, Wraith or Demo.

I’ve not liked it, the key spike was very noticeable and more last second character switch. More organized teams too, I’ve never faced a legit Sabo Squad before, but I sure have now.

That being said, I’ll keep it on because it is amusing watching survivors moon walk.
