Crossplay should be off by default to minimize wait times
It's common sense, instead of having people opt out and be in the minority with only their own platform, you have the minority group able to play with other groups to balance out wait times. To help everyone explain, here's some numbers to show the general concept:
Assuming only 15% of players on each platform make the effort to go into the options:
Platform 1: 15% of 1000 = 150
Platform 2: 15% of 750 = 113
Platform 3: 15% of 500 = 75
With my suggestion, all these smaller groups of players could play with the other groups

I'd guess it's on by default because BHVR wants people playing cross platform. Their goal is to get people to play cross platform so why would they default it to off?

If other people start realizing this, they can put pressure on the devs, or at the very least this will encourage people to avoid using crossplay and remind them that it's optional

If wait times are unbalanced with crossplay, they are almost certainly unbalanced for at least some platforms without crossplay. Given that the FPS issues for console are worse for killer, my theory is that console just has an excess of survivors. If we encourage people not to use crossplay, that problem doesn't go away.
If they want to address queue times, there are a number of routes they can take:
- Improve the frame rate, especially on console.
- Add expected queue times so that people who don't care can play the side with the faster queues.
- Add Bloodpoint incentives to play the side with the faster queue times until the queue times get more balanced for both sides.
I don't think disabling Crossplay is a good solution. It's a cool feature and the more people have it on, the better it works.

Faster games is better for all. We have lives to live besides waiting for a lobby. Crossplay is a godsend.

?? Crossplay has helped my wait times enormously.

for people who don't want crossplay to be on.
Crossplay has done huge harm to the game, console player just cannot compete with pc players I've started playing killers without perks or using really bad perks just because of how easy rank 1 has been recently, because of console players

Crossplay should never have been introduced before a functional mmr system. I can't even play survivor because console survivors are so bad and console killers can only camp. playing killer at rank 1 feels like going against rank 15s, even though they're all rank 1.

There's some half way decent console survivors. They don't have experience with good huntresses/nurses/deathslingers yet, but they're still decent besides that.

I hope for a selective option in the future. What i mean is that you can pick who you play with. It's well known that PC players tend to have the advantage over other platforms with keyboard and mouse, better frames per second in most games. Then maybe later when the next gen consoles come out revert it back if frames are better and have mouse and keyboard support.
