But whennit worked and you where paired with people of your skill, damn was the game fun to play
Right now the game is annoying cause i got the feeling people only wanna tryhard when they are red ranks, and i fight a lot of red ranks....im a purple rank killer....this is not fun at all tbh.
Gonna ask one question...why so serious?
I dont wanna say that people shouldnt loop or play serious or something...but god damn its so unfun to go against survivors that knows everypath to do perfect loops and be done with the gens asap when you just wanna chill some. I wanna fight people in purple ranks where i can do mistakes and where they also do mistakes, but where we overall have fun cause the game was actually close. Am i the only one feeling like this?

Ugh, when it comes back will I have to face 100 matches of level 1 Killer again?? If so, please never come back...

I thought cross-play would help to even out the ranks since the game can pull from a much bigger pool of players, but sadly that doesn't look to be the case. Like you I look forward to the MMR returning, but it definitely needed improving.
The biggest advantage with MMR was the fact that I could test out a killer that I had never played with before and not be punished. But with the game going back to matching people by ranks, means that I'll be facing high-ranking survivors in a bunch of sweaty matches with someone I've never played with before. Which goes to show just how much dead by daylight needs a practice mode like its mobile counterpart has. I thought I would never see the day when I wished that a console game was more like a mobile game! 😄

For me it can start right now because the rank matchmaking is for me more broken then mmr.
Just had a match against a rank 1 and a rank 2 as a rank 10 killer.
When mmr was live i didn't had any single of these matches

I am a rank 9-7 killer
When MMR was live i fought many many low ranks or begginner (anf i looked forward to letting them survive or not focusing on them)
Yet i ranked up very easily because of that which was bad tbh.
But already at rank 9 i fought many sweaty rank 1 survivors which wasnt that fun, but lately i got the feeling they are even more tryhard then usual? And that kills the fun.
MMR could have been great if they just gave it a fiew more weeks to collect data for the ranking...

I really do wish it would return or something because the matchmaking rn is terrible. Just horrible teammates especially with cross-play enabled. I play with cross-play mostly off. I would like to see the MMR return to see what its like with cross-play tho.

Hard disagree. I just came back to the game last week after a year off and I'm currently a rank 10 killer. Every single match since I hit about rank 13 has been against people who are rank 4 or below. Last night I had -5- matches against survivor teams that were entirely ranks 1 & 2.
The ranking system is insanely broken right now.
& it's also absolute hell with every match being a team of red rank survivors who all have DS, unbreakable, and whatever other perks are meta right now when you have like two tier 1 base perks on a killer and you're trying to learn how to play it.

Cross play is a step forward, but the point is that survivor ranks are very, very easy to gain, you do 1/2 gens and save and its 1 garanteed pip, so even there you wont see many purple ranks, but most of people in red ranks still tryhard a lot.
And im a guy that like to play each killer, but its.not fun for me to play my mains h24 ans never the other, each killer has something to offer, no matter if good or bad and i wanna enjoy my time with them.

As a rank 1 killer who main Legion and Clown rank 3-4-5 generally know how to loop properly but still do many mistake while having meta perk (many DS and DH). Rank 1-2 survivor are a step above 3-4-5 and I struggle against a full swf of those rank. When the MMR was active I was above rank 5 as killer and I was facing rank 4-5-6 for the most part. Before that I was either facing full red rank or lower purple and no middle ground. Either an easy match or me getting destroy and either way I didn't really learned from my match and couldn't improve.

And yes thats one of the points, you cant just improve from your mistake if you dont see them, how can i improve my looking or mindgames as a killer if the survivor know all the strats and knows how to perfectly avoid me, how can i learn to use my power if i never have the time for it.
Whenever i play survivor, il the kind of survivor that killer must love, cause i never use DS/UB lol.
Also i dont complain against SWF, cause i also play with friends sometimes. But we dont tryhard our asses off, we just wanna enjoy the game. If we survive thats cool, if we die, well the killer was better (only going to really tryhard against toxic killers with tunneling or camping and against Freddy/Spirit...we hate them lol)
But yeah you pin pointed exactly the problem there. And thats the annoying part of ranking up for now.

Did they also turned MMR on Xbox off? I thought it worked there.
Crossplay is kinda fun for me, i keep it on, but its the same point, either the players are good, either they are bad, most of the time bad, cause i guess on pc most of the time you learn at some point and go with a group as on console you mostly stay alone?
Or it can be cause console killers cant do the same moves, so console players have other habits perhaps? Ive seen console players do manythings that arent done anymore on pc cause the meta changed lol. But maybe its just me hahaha
