Flashlight through wooden walls?

I just got blinded by a flashlight while peeking someone with my whole screen facing the middle of a wooden wall. i quickly got stunned and i couldnt see who did it or where it came from.

Can people blind the killer trough walls? is it the small holes between the wooden planks? or can people blind you from outside your fov?
