What kind of clincial phobias do you have?

Member Posts: 2,993

Personally, I have Xenophobia, or fear of the unknown, this is actually why the Ocean and the dark scares me so much, you cannot put me in a dark room and tell me something is out there and looking for me without me having a near instant panic attack and anxiety

I have a fear of my loved ones suffering illness or death. It's the only thing that triggers me.

So a form of Thanatophobia? understandable, losing loved ones is one of the few things that triggers me too

I'm arachnophobic but weirdly I seem to fluctuate between "Ew spider" to "OH MY GOD GET IT AWAY FROM ME!!!" on a day by day basis, in other words, some days I can be in the same room as a spider as long as it keeps it's distance, on another day just a picture of a spider is enough to almost give me a panic attack. I think I might be entomophobic(Fear of bugs, I may have spelt it wrong) but I'm not sure as only certain bugs get a reaction out of me, maggots freak me out but I'm fine around caterpillars for example.

I'm a semi-professional swimmer as a hobby and I have thalassophobia (fear of open water). I cannot swim where I can't see the bottom, so no deal unless it's a pool... 😔

It's not diagnosed, but I'm 80% sure I have a phobia of Hurricanes,Tornadoes, etc. For example, I live in Southeast Texas, and when I heard that the Hurricane was going to hit in 2017 I was hysterical.

I have acrophobia, which is the phobia of heights. I've had a very minor case of oneirophobia ever since I watched the NOES remake when I was 12 (I have seen the OGs).

I'm pretty much the same, I can swim in a pool but the ocean is a no go

I have Kosmemophobia, which is a fear of jewelry (especially touching it).

When I married, I had to really fight putting the ring on my wife's finger, but I was determined to do it. It's the only time that I will ever willfully touch that stuff.

I'm very much thanatophobic. Also somewhat acrophobic (heights) and arachnophobic (spiders, though only the big ones)

I have a massive fear of bees and their relatives (apiphobia), which makes it really hard to watch the Candyman movies despite him being one of my favorite horror icons; being anywhere near water that goes beyond knee height (pretty sure this would be straight up hydrophobia) due to nearly drowning in a pool as a kid; clowns (coulrophobia) because... I have no idea; and one that I don't really know how to even look up, which is accidentally hurting those I care about (which has led me to be really distant from said people I care about).

I have emetophobia. Which is the fear of vomiting. Its the sounds and smells that will put me in full panic. I have to keep track of the food in the house, cause I never ever want to eat expired food. There are certain foods that I have to avoid at all costs.

Yes the Plague is extremely hard for me to play against. I try to not get my character sick as long as possible. If it does happen ill either have to cleanse immediately or mute the game. I thought I had to quit when she got announced, but luckily the animations havent been a huge trigger for me so I can still play as long as I dont versus her 5 times in a row.

Automatonophobia. Mostly mannequins. It's abated a lot, when I was a kid I couldn't even walk past a shop that had them in the windows, let alone go in them. I didn't really watch any TV apart from cartoons until I was about 11 or 12 in case a mannequin or a robot or something appeared. I know people go on about how springtrap would not be remotely scary in dbd - really would be for me I assure you 😅
