Can we remove the Wraith's burn mechanic?
Back when he was the only stealthy killer, this made absolute sense. It provided survivors with a defense against the only sneaky killer. Something to fight back with. But now that we have so many stealth killers on the roster and he remains the ONLY killer who can be stunned by a flashlight (not blinds, mind you, just flashlights), I think it's time for a change.
Removing the burn mechanic wouldn't harm the game balance. Wraith is already a mid-level killer on a good day, so removing this frustrating, outdated penalty would only bring him in line with everyone else.

Yeah, its an outdated mechanic which only affects two Killers - Wraith and Nurse. And the Benefit against Nurse is so minor that nobody would really try to do it, so it only really affects Wraith.
It should be removed.

They should have removed it a long time ago.

I completely forgot about Nurse's burn... If the Spirit can't be burned, then no one else should be either. It's just a ridiculous mechanic that can make the killer fearful of the survivors. That should never happen.

They removed the ability to sabotage Bear Traps, which is a step in the right direction. I get the feeling that removing Lightburn will be more of a "when" than an "if."

Uncloak behind objects. Can't even remember the last time I've been killer burned, and I play wraith a lot.

Yeah his burn is not at all necessary for a killer as weak as wraith

though it makes sense as to why spirit cant be and wraith/nurse can be, lore-wise.
Spirit travels through an ethereal plane. Wraith/Nurse travel through the Spirit World (rather ironically).
I agree though, that this mechanic should be removed immidiately if not sooner.

I mean by that logic shouldn't we remove flashlights, DS, and the ability to rescue survivors by dropping the pallet on the killer. All these situations can instill fear within the killer.

The nurse can be burned? How have I have played this game for 2 or 3 years now and never noticed about it?
Looooool im completely dumb.
Well I never play nurse tho.

Yes, when she is charging her Blink. The thing is, unlike Wraith, the Nurse will turn around and kill you for that. So its not really worth it.

OP is talking about the Burn-Mechanic. Not about Flashlight Blinds.

Do they need to be looking at your face to burn you, or not?

Nope, also possible from behind, to help out a teammate, for example.

Can we buff him to the point where it's warranted insted ?

Wooow dude, nice that now, I know that. Because maybe sometime I play nurse and I get beaten up not knowing that #########.
And can nurse and wraith counter that mechanic by using light born? I guess not but wanting to know.

Yeah I understand that, but the person I quoted was arguing that any thing that causes the killer to become fearful of the survivor should be removed.

Nope, Lightborn only works against Flashlight Blinds, not against Flashlight Burns.

There's a difference between survivor's using defensive tools and using offensive tools. Using a flashlight at a pallet is defensive. Using a flashlight when the killer is picking up a teammate is defensive. Using a flashlight to burn a killer out of their power is offensive.
Survivors shouldn't have offensive tools. They should always be playing the defensive game: run and hide, etc. Otherwise, they're battling the killer and not surviving them.

They should because its not a balanced effect, but they won't because that would be helping a killer too much.

I wonder how the Wraith does on average in general? I wish there was a stat site for the game to view average scores and kill ratios by killer. It helps give a perspective on whether Wraith could use a buff by, say, removing flashlight blindness or is ok or above average in which case maybe taking it away would be the wrong move. There's lots of opinions but no actual statistical data to go by.

I liked sabotaging bear traps even if it got me killed. It's a step in the wrong direction to take away varying ways for players to un-optimally have fun. As Wraith, the Lightburn mechanic gets me more hits than burns if only because I know what the timing is or bring uncloak speed add-ons.
Having a killer approach you out of nowhere and begin uncloaking to down you is entirely a situation where burning The Wraith is defensive. That's why it exists--NOT for people who try to bully new players (matchmaking issue).
