Better Stalking Killer?
This isn't necessarily about stealth as then Pig would enter the mix.
But as far as general play at the green and purple ranks, who do you feel is the better stalker Killer, Myers or Ghostface. They both have their strengths and weaknesses.
I'm actually torn on this one, so looking for thoughts from y'all.

Ghostface has a constant flow all game. Myers has a slow start (Tier 1) and slow end (Cannot stalk survivors anymore) but his mid game is one of the most intense and there's the off chance he may just straight out kill you with a tombstone piece.
If a team is constantly watching you Ghostface feels like a trapper without any traps. If they watch you as Myers, watch them back.

I love my Myers out of the two but GF has better angles when it comes to stalking.

Thank you. Good feedback. Much appreciated.
Obviously by the avatar, I love Myers. Bought the game due to Myers. But, put him down in early to mid 2019 to play a bunch of other killers and just picked him up again. And, oh boy, without the bloodweb giving me Corrupt to help with the early game, it feels like a slog now.
So, was thinking of playing Ghostface.

Much as I love my Myers, your points seems to be where I've been leaning lately, too.
Myers needs some small tweaks, the main one being stalking & distance.

Ghosty is a better stalker, but Michael is punished less for being found.

Ghostface 100%. Ghostface has so much more control over the exposed status effect. He's precise and quick.
You get a finite amount of uses with Myers due to his stalk limit and you can only guarantee the first down in Tier 3. After that, you have a big terror radius and everyone knows you're coming. With Ghostface, you can stalk survivors to 99% and make a decision: do you go for the ambush or do you leave them 99'd for later? You can have multiple survivors 99'd. It's awesome when a survivor goes to tank a hit for their teammate and you snap into Night Shroud and expose them for a quick down in less than a second.
Ghostface is capable of crazy offensive output when you combine hit and run tactics with his stalking ability. I play a hybrid style with him. I will always stalk if I have the opportunity, but if not, I take the easy M1 and chase until a better opportunity presents itself. I prefer Ruin/Surveillance/Nurse's/and a flex perk.
All that being said, Myers can still do some work. You have to be extremely efficient with his stalking and get multiple downs during every Tier 3. He can often get a free M1 to start chases with Monitor. Dead Rabbit is completely redundant because it's a percentage after Monitor, so all you're doing is taking 2m off your TR in tier 2 and increasing your TR in tier 3. Monitor by itself is the way to go. I run Fire Up+Bamboozle on Myers to delete any tile with a window during tier 3. It's a free down every time if you time the vault right.

ghostface is better than myers overall

Thanks. I was already playing Ghostface tonight before posting, but it just seems that Myers fits my play style better. Ghostface is definitely a different play style and one I'll definitely try to get into, but Myers so far seems more effective with me, even with the early game slog.
Definitely going to check out the video, too.

Myers is way easier to use and is an absolute nightmare for bad loopers, but Ghostface is stronger overall. Better stealth, individual 99's, higher skill cap, and even if you don't go for stalking you can do the old Hit-And-Run technique, which is pretty easy to use and master and is decently effective in general unless the survivors know the counterplay of literally just running to the other side of the map and looking out for you.

I think at this point, I'm just going to play both. Ghostface seems like a more direct killer, and his add-ons pretty much maintain that; whereas with Myers I can switch things up quite a bit with add-ons for more variety.

Think it’s GF.
I always hear Myer’s klunky feet tromping around and his deep breathing through that mask like he has Stridor effecting him.
GF is sneakier as his shroud noises sometimes blend in with torches and barrels, and he can creep low so he isn’t upright and all the time visible like Shape is.
Also, Ghostie can peek around objects easier.

Ghost Face, for me it isn't even a contest. Myers is stealthy for tier 1, Ghost Face is stealthy for whenever hes wraith, which is at least half the game if you play him right. Myers can 1 shot in tier 3, which takes a looooooong time. Ghost Face can 1 shot anyone hes stared at for 5 seconds, much easier to do. Literally the only thing I consider Myers to have better than Ghost Face is addons. Thats without addons though, If myers can get to infinite tier 3 hes a terror.

@Heartbound @edgarpoop @zoozoom6 @MadLordJack @SCP_FOR_DBD
What builds and add-ons would you recommend for Ghostface?
0 -
From my experience in red ranks, Myers is the better of the two. Ghostface can't snowball and apply pressure like Myers can.
1 -
That's interesting. I've hit purple myself, and mostly played Cannibal, Freddy, and Doc the past month or so. Been looking to get back into Myers after a year of rarely playing him, but was under the impression Ghostface was better at the job. Which saddened me, because Myers is why I got into DbD in the first place.

Chewed Pen and Olsens Address book are by FAR the best addons, its not even close. Maybe try Outdoor Security Camera every now and then but thats very rare. Address book and Chewed Pen are always gonna be your bread and butter .

I'm not an add on dependant player. I level up to 50, use all browns, then all yellows, then all greens, then all purples, then reds then I prestige. For builds though definitely make sure you have discordance on it. If they don't have spine chill it's easy to pull someone off a generator.
I'm fond of things like Nemesis, Rancor and Deathbound, but if you hate loops you might invest in enduring/brutal and such. I'm all ears is okay if you turn off your red glow so they run into you but I never use it. Hope this helps!

From playing survivor, I've seen more 4K Ghostface than Myers. If I see with Kindred it's Ghostface, I start to sweat immediately, lol. And I ADORE Ghostface, he's legitimately the only Killer that's gotten a jump scare on me with his creepy af ability to crouch and lean forward to try and stalk. Ngl, he's the main reason I keep Spine Chill on most of my builds, b/c his speed really makes him a threat. Sprint Burst and I usually lose Myers 🤷♀️
1 -
Chewed Pen, the green recovery rate add-on. It's almost a requirement given his normal recovery time. His other add-ons are interesting and decently strong, even crouch speed add-ons (crouching at loops is not to be ignored), but the recovery add-ons are insanely good.
As for perks, I prefer STBFL/Nurses/Corrupt Intervention/Sloppy Butcher. It's nice, it's versatile, and it lends well to switching between stalking, stabbing and chasing. STBFL in particular can help in the moments you don't have his power - for example, you downed someone and there's someone else there that to haven't stalked, you can just go at them and possibly even get a quick second down. Whispers is also very good, it lets you know where people are so you can sneak up on them for stalking purposes.

I'll tag you both on this.
So, played him quite a bit tonight. Wasn't my first time playing him, mind you, just my first time in trying to decide if I want to keep maining Myers as my Stalk-Killer or switch.
A few issues I ran into with him.
Ran into a metric ton of Spine Chill tonight. I swear, cross-platform (be it from Windows Store or console, wherever they were from) seem to love that perk to death. So, of course they knew where I was heading or at least looking, and loved to bolt. It made sneaking and stalking very difficult on him, especially because I'm not convinced they weren't at least partial SWF since someone else always managed to get on my flank just enough to reveal me as I was moving in on the other under Shroud.
The revealing mechanic irritates me. I don't like that I can lose my power like that. Depending on the map and whether comms or not, it can really put your power in the survivor's hands a bit like Plague if they don't heal. Now granted, Myers can have the same power loss happen when he runs out of stalk juice, but I seem to be able to juggle that a little better and is at least solely within my hands.
Out of 9 blood webs for Ghostface tonight, I found zero additional pens or address books. The fact that he really is so reliant on that (and I've seen a bunch of guides say the same), concerns me given my RNG luck with those two add-ons so far.
Hit-and-run. This one is all on me. I seem to have a more fluid time performing hit-and-runs on Wraith or Pig than I do with him. Again, that is a playstyle issue with me, and not something specifically against Ghostface.
Got the cornfields twice and Spirit's map once. Those maps can burn in hell. I had more trouble with GF on those maps than I do with Myers, but again that could be a me-issue.
So far, I enjoy Myers a lot more. Granted, I'm not about to go and hit red ranks with him, but that isn't a goal anyway.
There's something about Ghostface I know I'm not getting. I just don't know what.

Alright, I'll cut this up into sections.
Spine Chill sucks, but it can be played around. Try to never look where you think your target is, try crab walking instead. You normally have a small amount of time before your target realizes your within 36 meters.
In order to stop being revealed try using corners more, one of the things Ghost Face has over Myers is his ability to lean and crouch. If corners are utilized right it will be nigh impossible for survivors to consistently reveal you.
Walleyes Match Book is a decent substitute for Chewed Pen and Address Book. Stalk Time addons aren't terrible either, especially the ones that apply when leaning. Hopefully your luck will turn for the better.
You should get into a rhythm with him after a while and hit and runs will be far easier. Its just a matter of time.
Map Dependency sucks, the only thing I can suggest is offerings.
You could also try switching between Myers and Ghost Face, so you get a better feel for the differences and earn BP faster. Hopefully this helps.

From a survivor PoV, i find myers harder to go against; Maybe i haven't faced good ghostfaces but that's my experience so far.
2 -
ghostface is a 2.0 myers also funnier to play as.
0 -
I'll give that a try. Also watched Jaee's guide tonight with some tips for GF, as well as Stalky Boi for Myers.
Given that I used to play Myers, and lately have mostly done Freddy, Doc, and Cannibal, I think needing to get into GF's rhythm is what's screwing me.
1 -
I love playing as Myers (and against him), but I would have to go with Ghostface as having the better stalk ability - if there wasn't so many issues around the stalking ability and the ability to break him out of stalk.
I think the advantage is that it's pretty much unlimited on GF as well, with Myers there's only so much Evil Within you can gain on a person and it feels like it takes much longer to gain your insta down (I've not run the numbers, going by how it feels). I also think that GF's ability to go into stealth at their own will gives an advantage over Myers.
I have more success whilst playing as Myers though, but that I think is a playstyle issue rather than a character one, GF's ability to lean/stalk can be very strong if used right but I tend to use it badly and don't think things through...but then I'm a Wraith main normally anyway, so have a completely different playstyle I guess.
1 -
I like Myers more, even though statistically he's not as good. Ghostface's gameplay is SO boring IMO- too often just an M1 killer, you're constantly getting revealed against good/swf players. Sure you can get some stalks in, but they're few and far between- more often during the game you'll tier up as Myers and it's fun to run around in god-mode.
1 -
I have to basically agree with everything you said, Mandy. On top of that, I also tend to have more success with Myers than with GF, and I also feel that is because of my playstyle.
Never mind that hearing the actual Halloween "The Chase" music play when in a chase gets my blood pumping as Myers, especially when it's against a Laurie wearing the default skin, which was her end-of-movie showdown clothes. 😁

There's something incredibly special about Myers @Kilmeran to me at least. It's also one of my most favourite horror movies, the original Halloween.
0 -
For perks, I like anything that gives me tracking. Ruin/Surveillance is an incredible combo, and it will become even stronger if Hex: Undying makes it out of PTB unscathed.
For add ons, double cooldown is his best combo. Chewed pen/address book I think. Green/yellow. Second best is the yellow/brown cooldowns. Exposed duration isn't particularly useful because you shouldn't be fully exposing anyone until you're right on top of them. No reason to tip them off early and give them a head start.
1 -
Yep. I was born in '72, so was a kid when Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare all launched. Along with things like Evil Dead and Phantasm.
Myers has always been my favorite. Really bummed I have to wait an extra year for Halloween Kills. Was hoping they just tossed it out on VOD this year. Sigh.
I write horror and thrillers for a living, I've been an author for almost 30 years, and my office is decorated with a ton of horror stuff for the main franchises, including a bunch of the Neca figures hanging on the wall.
BHVR did a great job with capturing the essence of Myers, in my opinion. And the licensed music just enhances it.

I ran Ruin/Surv for the first time last night. I'd say I had about a 50/50 success rate on Ruin at least staying up until late match. Once, I did have a Claudette find it early. Lucky, I found her during cleansing and grabbed her off before she finished.
Soon as I realized she wasn't on comms with anyone else because no one else seemed to know where it was, I had to sadly remove her from the match as fast as possible. I felt bad doing it, but . . . .
1 -
If myers gets his tier 2 early I would say hes much better than GF. His detection is broken both ways. Some matches you can never be revealed no matter how overt your stalking is and other times you're getting revealed from 2 meters past a fence.
Ghost face is only better if you don't acutally play him as intended and just use the shroud for a free first hit. He's a pretty flawed killer
0 -
I agree with that. At least in my experience with him, I get revealed way too often. But also as @MandyTalk mentioned about herself with him, I also think that comes down to my playstyle and how I use stalk.
Myers fits much more into my normal playstyle. I can stalk and be aggressive at the same time. Which seems to fit, since my other most played are Leatherface, Freddy, and Doc, all highly aggressive killers.
I'm going to give GF more play time, but in the end I will probably just stick with Myers. I watched some guides from Stalky Boi last night that pin-pointed some stuff for me.

I´m also kinda torn on this one. Myers was one of the main reasons I got into DBD back then, huge Halloween fan.
I think Ghostface has more potential in advanced play, but I can win more consistently with Myers. Love both though, so I can´t really judge here ...
0 -
Same. Myers was the reason I bought DbD. And I mained him for a bit, but put him down in 2019 to focus on other killers for a change of pace.
Just coming back to him, things are a little different in DbD and I've had some troubles.
I suggest this video. Though I knew a majority of it, it still helped jumpstart my brain on Myers again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i78cpzOHUSw

Born a couple of years after you but same era, so I totally get you!

I'll leave ya be after this tag, as I know you're busy.
But have you heard this orchestra version of the theme yet? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNUCEa3cwHE&fbclid=IwAR0Zafxoa9PqqYHvTD-O7MV9NBxK-n8IPvZwYIvtru6sFOahdiwl7NB-ubA

I have! It's on my playlist!!

Same. That and his Phantasm orchestra rendition. 😁

nurses on stealth killers is a must, pop is good i take discordance for info and stbfl works well on him as you can just mark the obession for minimal stack losses.
gf has one of the weakest addon sets in the game increasing night shroud recovery helps so chewed pen and night-vision monocular is pretty good depending on your playstyle
0 -
Yeah. And one of my main issues with GF is that he is absolutely Night Shroud recovery time add-on dependent. I loathe killers like that. To me, it's a bad design.
0 -
its not as bad as wraith or trapper but it is pretty bad especially with most/half of his addons being hot garbage
1 -
At least with Wraith you aren't both add-on dependent and your power availability being in the hands of the survivors if they're good.
For me, so far, GF seems like he has both the downsides of Wraith (and Trapper) with the add-ons, and Plague if the survivors don't heal and are decent at running injured.
Outside of crouch-to-mindgame, I'm not seeing a huge benefit with him over Myers so far. Now granted, I am not a super-skilled Killer. I'm average at best despite getting into purple ranks post crossplay (I should not be in Purple ranks, btw). So, take what I say with a grain or two of salt.
0 -
i am almost always in red ranks for killer i have heavily played wraith and ghostface. wraith's base kit is awful its like 120% when cloaked and horrifically bad uncloak and cloak times with heavy slown while doing eithier all for a minor speed boost that doesnt off set the speed lost from using you power in the first place no addon wraith feels awful to play you need either ghost or a windstorm to play him with any competance.
ghostface can gen grab people with no addons this is impossible with wraith this alone makes him better. wraith however by contrast has some of the strongest addons in the game the all seeing ones and the best windstorm can go toe to toe with myer tombstone addons but if you try wraith and ghostface side by side with no add-ons it is clear who is better
