I now have 1,425,463 Bloodpoints
I got the first bp gift because of the error messages, then got the ENTITYPLEASED and ENTITYDISPLEASED points. But before this I accidentally claimed all of my daily challenges that I was saving for the new chapter.
For some reason, doing this gave me an extra 25,462 bloodpoints. No clue how this bug happened but it has made me think:
Why is there even a bloodpoint cap? It seems like a way to manually increase the game's already long and tedious grind.

As far as i know it was to prevent BP Cheating, so people could only give themselfs 1M BP and then need to spend and do it again which increases the odds that EAC catched up to it

This is not a bug, bonus BP should not be "wasted" when you got too many already, so they are added on a separate "account" that adds up to your 1 million cap. They are also consumed first, just for info. So you cannot spend 400k now and then gather again, you need to get below the 1 million again to get new BP

I know that the free BP goes over the limit and is intended. I was referring to when I claimed my daily challenges and got the extra 25,462 bloodpoints.

People cheating to avoid the grind sounds more like a reason as to why the BP limit shouldn't be there to begin with.

How is the BP limit affecting the grind in any way? If you are grinding, you have apparently enough targets to sink your BPs in and should not reach the cap at all
then you most likely collected the dailies with a regular BP account of 974.538 + 400k bonus

Grinding before a new patch comes would be much more profitable if there was no limit, as getting all the new perks would be easy. That limit forces anyone who doesn't want to spend as much BPs as possible to wait it out, making it more tedious when the patch does drop.
I collected by daily's when I was already at 1,000,000 BPs. That's what I meant by the bug. Since it went over the limit.

Well, that would cause everyone run the PTB meta builds from day one, which would be pretty boring and imo another good reason to keep the cap. Besides that, with archives you can save up to roughly 3.5 mio BP for the chapter release, which puts both characters to level 50 on day 1. That is already boring enough to go against

That's a problem with the game's balancing. Not a problem with people getting perks too quickly. Which as you said, people can already circumvent with the archives.
