Tick Rate Increase
DID THE DEVS DO SOMETHING RIGHT?
Today it seems like I can actually play games against huntress without getting hit by hatchets that are nowhere near me only to then have the killer say hitboxes are fine, I just got "outplayed", in end game chat. >.>

I'm a moron what is tick rate?

Featured snippet from the web
Tick rate (measured in Hz) is the frequency with which a server “updates” what the player is seeing. For instance, a server tick rate of 64 means the server sends packets of information, such as player position and object location, upward of 64 times in a single second."

it also doubles the amount of frames that match server updates, 60fps updates every frame instead of every other frame

It makes dedicated not as bad, the killer will now appear at the correct distance he should be.
Basically you should not be getting as many bullshit hits
btw, has anyone that play killer noticed an improvement in grabs?

Amazing

If no one responds by the time I hope back on later I'll play mirror mikey and find out.

Thanks

It's about frequency, not frames. 60 Hz instead of 30 Hz. Your framerate is irrelevant for the server.
2 -
In a relative sense 60fps at 30Hz only updates to the server every other frame and 60fps at 60Hz updates every frame which means at 60fps you should see what the server will send every frame instead of only see what the server will send every other frame
1 -
Yes, but that's if you can maintain those specific framerates and never have any deviation, which we all know is almost never the case. Hell, some people play above 60 FPS, others below 30 FPS. That's why I mentioned frequency, so people don't get the wrong idea and think their framerate is somehow tied to how often the server updates their position.

If the killer have a bad connection he will be still capable of hiting you 10 meters away

Yes! I yoinked four different people trying to do the locker hop BS. No more leap frog for you.

Grabs are better and I'm hitting cheeky survivors more often that medium vault through windows.

Or a ######### VPN. They need to block VPN.

You decide to point out weird things in weird ways im just going to ignore you

im getting grabs when i'm only trying to hit them
1 -
Huntress feels terrible when the killers ping is lower than the survivors.
I had a game against console users all fluctuating from 80 to 150 ping and my hatchets would phase through them, even when stuck in an animation like vaulting a window.
The only time i hit them was to throw to their invisible bodie and them watch their ghost run into the already exploded hatchet.
This is making me want to use vpn....

It was a correction of your statement so people could receive the right information, but whatever.
2 -
Um, it’s not weird. Orion is correct. If you don’t understand something fully, now you have an opportunity to learn more instead of bashing on someone who is right. It’s OK to be wrong sometimes ya know?

Now that is a much better explanaintion and is how they should have Tweeted it: "Yoinks have been buffed".

Not gonna lie, I actually get hits through pallets now. It used to be that I swing, clearly connected, but got interrupted by the vacuum-stun. Now, they get hit as punishment for such bravado and can no longer have their cake and eat it too.
And on the survivor end... Not much has changed because of the fact you just cannot get rid of latency. It wouldn't be fair. So, I still get hit when I clearly shouldn't have if my screen is anything to go by (which it's not).

wow well with 70ms ping I got downed mid air after a fast vault in my last match 10 minutes ago

Hits are bit being checked by the server so let's wait.

Still feels pretty bad. I jumped through a window yesterday and got grabbed from it when I was already landed and running away from it. The game like, threw me backward multiple feet and reset my position inside of the animation.

Yep! Grabs are sooo much better! I actually grabbed someone off a gen earlier as Pig... Was glorious ;)

I'm giggling.

no I understand it, but when people correct something just because they and others can't put 2 and 2 together I would just rather not deal with them
0 -
They corrected you because you were wrong, not because they can't put 2 and 2 together.
1 -
And so it begins.
0 -
Putting 2 and 2 together when you explicitly mention frames as if they were relevant would be to assume/conclude that the server takes your framerate into account.
0 -
An increase in tickrate makes what the server sees more closely match framerate, this game is normally locked at 60fps meaning most systems that run it at 60fps will see what the server sees every frame instead of what the server predicts every other frame to compensate for tickrate not matching fps

It's fair if we are touching the ground and got hit/grabbed after a fast vault its bs
1 -
Latency is still such an issue that I haven't noticed any benefits from the change to 60Hz, unfortunately.

Hit validation is off afaik, unless they very recently (like today) added it back again. That's just dbd being dbd.
I'm in a meeting rn so I can't watch the video you linked, but in theory I don't think this would be much of a problem. Grabs will be somewhat easier, but survivors won't take hits from like 30 feet away because the killer's playing on dial up. On the whole I'd definitely take that as both a killer and a survivor. It's just more consistency overall.
0 -
Sure have! I've been seeing so many more people (rightfully) getting grabbed off of hooks and gens lately. Including myself. whoops

I watched your video and I want 6 minutes of my life back because it told me literally nothing.
As a killer I almost never missed my grabs and I've seen plenty of my hatchets go around corners and as a survivor I'm very used to being grabbed/hit through windows and hit around corners. I'm saying that the hit validation hasn't solved anything. Last week I got chainsawed through a window I was already running away from, and yesterday I was grabbed through a window I was already through. Same ######### as always.

It was really just a comparison to the poster talking about how their feet touched the ground on the opposite side of a vault and was grabbed. In the video this happened to one player that I could confirm. The other it "might' have happened to.

I still get pretty bullshit hits literally cant juke, 360 or dodge hits at all anymore. Killers are hitting me from behind them. It seems worse than before hit validation was added and removed.
