Console icon on pc players

My friend: "9l_TYT_OGUH" is playing from pc, and he just got marked as console player. It's not the first time that i hear about this bug, but it's the first time that i encounter it on first person

The icon doesn't just mark console players, it marks players that are on a different platform to yourself. So if you're on Steam and they are on Windows Store for example, it will still show the icon.
Are you both playing on the same platform?

We both play from steam and this is the first time he gets marked as "platform player" this is why i'm 100% sure it's a bug :)
