A ‘little’ rant
So first off let me start by saying that I understand that when you play with other people you pose a risk of running into frustrating scenarios; but with that being said, I still have to have this little rant lol.
I always use Botany Knowledge, it’s just something that never leaves my loadout as I love being able to constantly heal my teammates faster and I also love being able to do the same to myself. During each trial I always designate myself as the person who will go for hook saves, pick up slugged teammates and heal people. It’s just how my play style is, I like keeping people alive as long as possible.
The problem I face is that I will go out of my way to make sure people survivor as long as possible but I feel like I don’t get the same love in return. I had a match last night where I wasn’t downed or hooked all game, but I got caught trying to open an exit gate and hooked. The killer didn’t camp me in the slightest but still the entire team stood on the opposite side of the map teabagging with each other; up until I eventually died, keeping in mind that this was my first hook. The killer didn’t go over to them until after I died and at that point they opened the exit gate, taunted the killer inside and then proceeded to leave.
The most frustrating thing is that they all knew nobody was coming to save me as they were all sat together. There was no NOED or anything else to keep them from coming over to at least TRY to save me. Nobody even came to check if the killer was camping. So it’s okay for me to save them all from hooks, pick them up from being slugged, continuously heal them, fix 3 generators (you’re welcome guys) but as soon as I get hooked, it’s okay for me to just be left to die? It just really got under my skin. It wouldn’t bother me as much if this wasn’t a common occurrence, but I feel like it happens way more than it should.
I just can’t stand selfish people and that’s what it comes down to. People are completely fine with being saved but as soon as the shoe is on the other foot they couldn’t give a damn. I suppose this is just one of the many perils of playing in solo lobbies.
I’ve also noticed similar scenarios when I’m playing as killer. I quite often see somebody being left on a hook to die when I’m nowhere near it. I sometimes wish I could take the survivor back off lol.
Sorry for the essay, I just had to vent. 😌

I suggest more stealthy playstyle, avoid the killer while helping your teammates. spine chill can work great.

I think you misunderstood what I wrote. I was caught at the end of the game opening an exit gate. Not whilst helping out my teammates. I do use Spine Chill and I only got downed at the end of the match. My issue isn’t being downed, it’s having teammates that don’t save you even though you did the same for them earlier in the trial.

I suggest stealthier approach in the end game, since it can be the most dangerous time for risky actions. wait for the killer to check YOUR exit gate before you open it. that way you there is more chance that other teammates will be chased.

You’re missing the point. The issue isn’t being downed or hooked. It’s having teammates that won’t come to save you when you’re downed and hooked. I don’t have an issue with playing stealthy but you can still be downed whilst playing stealthy. The issue isn’t with how I’m playing, it’s with how some other people play. It’s just a selfish mindset to leave people to die when they didn’t do that to you earlier in the trial.
There’s no excuse for sitting on the opposite side of the map and teabagging with the rest of the team whilst you are left to die on your first hook.

I think you have misread what I wrote as my problem isn’t with stealth or being downed. I don’t struggle with either of those things. I was downed at the end of the match whilst I was trying to get an exit gate open. My problem is with teammates leaving you to die on your first hook even though you were the one that kept saving them.

This happens a lot when I play solo. I’ve started bringing Kindred for this one reason lol!
What drives me crazy is when you get hooked (first hook), and you can see the auras of your teammates hanging around the exit gate. Then the killer marches over, one of them opens the gate and they ALL leave.
Like, please DON’T STAY THERE! If you’re not on death hook, move away from the exit gate after someone’s been hooked! If you weren’t diddling around at the gate, you wouldn’t have been forced out and maybe someone could have saved me?
I hardly play solo anymore because of selfish teammates like that. A friend that I play regularly with absolutely refuses to play solo exactly because of scenarios like you’ve described.

So this is just my opinion as I’ve seen it on killer and survivor.... there have been many times on both where a survivor that that tends to only hover around hooks, are allergic to gens, and don’t share killer aggro often get left out to dry.
im not saying you do all of those things, it’s just an observation from many many games.

It’s really frustrating. I don’t think even Kindred would have helped me as the team knew nobody was coming for the save as they were all sat together at the exit waiting for the killer to head over, which didn’t happen until after I died, so they really had no excuse. One of them even had Borrowed Time which I found absolutely hilarious. 😂

I can understand that more, but that wasn’t the case with me. I would leave my gens to go for the saves, as they would have seen whilst they were on the hook. In the match I talked about in my OP, I actually fixed 3 generators completely by myself whilst my team did whatever it was they were doing. They had no reason to wait on the opposite side of the map for me to die on my first hook, especially considering they were only alive because it was me who kept saving them and picking them up from the ground and healing them. Obviously not every match is like this, but I’m getting more teammates like this nowadays.

Just chalk it up to unlucky then.

And I feel swf adds to this dilemma for solo.

I suppose. But it’s getting to the stage where it’s making me think twice about saving other people and that’s not the mindset I want to approach games with. I guess I just need to accept that not everybody is as altruistic as me. I’d rather die trying to save somebody (if a save is at all possible) than just open an exit gate and leave. Oh well. 🤷🏻♀️😂

It is as so-called "Red Shirt" situation with SWF. You were not part of their group. They didn't care about you. It is another reason I think that Groups will have to be in a different Que than Solos.

That’s a very good point. I didn’t even think about the fact they could have been a 3-man. They all had globes next to their names so I couldn’t really check this information out for myself. I love how they let me fix most of the gens and continuously save them from hooks and being slugged only to leave me to die. I feel so used. 😮 😂

That's a true solo queue experience. I suggest you use deliverance - very useful in these kinds of situations

Thats the solo survivor struggle. I had a game against Doc the other week. Did 3 gens, ran him around for a while for them to get another gen, then when he chased me off, my teammates all hopped in the hatch and left me to die.
