What's the consensus on...
The killer holding the hatch hostage.
Like let's say your the last one alive killer finds the hatch first and will close it the minute you get close but won't close it till you come and find it. What's the counter play here.
Doing a gen by yourself 1v1 is almost suicide. You could try and sneak up to the hatch sure but if he's spinning around looking for ya your running ain't gonna outspeed his click.
Curious on your thoughts boys and girls of the fog.

My usual move is to just walk out into the open and stare at him. Most killers I do this to will give me the hatch. A lot of the time that behavior is more of a power play type deal, they want you to know that they won. So, by just walking out into the open and acknowledging it, I get the hatch.

As you said doing a gen is Almost suicide. So there is a chance to do a gen and make killer close a hatch. Open gates 1v1 is really hard but sometimes it happens. It's a pretty much killer sided situation. But he kinda deserve it if he managed to kill 3 survivors.

Survivors stand on the hatch to taunt, most killers stand on the hatch are doing it to give to you. Its funny in our world the bloodthirsty killers are the nice ones

I've always looked at it the way survivors always refuse to leave the map by hanging out in the exit gates. Same issue.

I personally give the last survivor most often the hatch depending on how hard/stressful the game was. The longer the less likely it is for the last survivor to get out since the got emblem- and bloodpoints to pip.
Also like ringwinning says, it is often a superiority thing when the killer knows he could ascertain dominance he will maybe let the last go.
In general if the killer really just camps the hatch like an idiot just 99 some gens and pop them fast. Either the killer will leave the hatch and give you the opportunity to go for it or he will close it and by that activate the doors. Since you should know where the hatch is, if you know that the killer is camping it, you go for the more distant door or try and hope for a successful mindgame and try the closer door. This comes down to a 50/50 of which door the killer goes to first.

This. It's kind of saying you're definitely not escaping. I would feel bad about doing it or having it done but the amount of times i play killer and people are at the exit gates just waiting to crouch spam until time runs out or i hit them is astronomical.

Your right it is almost everyone but id say it's different.
In that case their just waiting to taunt you. In my case I'd say he took out a part of the round where survivors can very commonly escape but made it so he wins. Which sure as a killer main I can get behind. But at the same time I see it as getting sweaty for a 4k.
Also everyone else for context I did walk over to him and he didn't do anything so I walked up to get the hatch he closed it on me and initiated a chase. Then proceeded to not pick me up. So I think it was more a taunt and less a show of already winning.

Yeah I mean it's the same principle though of standing at the exit gate. It's basically the player saying "I win and there's nothing you can do to stop me". Unlike survivors waiting at the exit gates there is a counter to it if you're smart. As someone else pointed out if you can observe the killer from afar and see that they aren't moving off of the hatch simply 99 the remaining gens you need so you can get a door attempt. I've actually been in this exact situation several times in the past and when it works out it's such a beautiful moment of vengeance!
Also, I had a few times where when I saw this taking place I ran to all the chests looking for a key. If you manage to find one bait the killer to close the hatch and open it up again. That'll teach him!

Your mistake here is thinking that the killer is holding the game hostage. That Piggy just wants her snoot booped, and will move aside and let you escape the moment you do it.
Boop the snoot!
BOOP IT!

99 however many gens are left possibly as far away as possible from the hatch. Then pop them one by one and hide, testing with each one if the killer closes the hatch and comes for you. Almost suicide? Yes. But not really holding the game hostage.

I mean killer already won at that point not really their fault bhvr added in a trash mechanic that can take that way from them if they don’t sit on it
1 -
You can do gens. That's not suicide, not if you know where the killer is.
2 -
Your right your tight their are ways around it..sneakily do gens. 99ing is viable for sure. Doing them normally not so much but lol thanks everyone for your responses!
