I want to talk about Spirit
I'm playing much more Survivor than Killer, and I think Spirit isn't fun to play against.
The problem with Spirit for me is that as a survivor you don't have any feedback, you don't know what she's doing when she stands still. For her this is just a big mind game, but to me (the survivor) it's like flipping a coin with 10 sides, and 9 out of 10 times I land with my face in her blade.
It's really hard to counter her, she can nearly always track you.
Do you have any tips how I can play against her.. Perks or anything else, because I'm running out of Ideas.

You couldn't have added this to the 89389438493849348902948321094832493423184923482349023 other spirit threads?

Just play Ash.
No moaning sounds.
No vaulting sounds
No gen sounds
No footstep sounds
No sounds when quickly entering a locker.
Nothing.

First of all, without an ULTRA RARE add on, she can't see blood, second, if you vault into a spirit you deserve to die, third, scratch marks aren't precise, fourth, you can crouch with iron will, muting yourself even if she has stridor. She is unbalanced, but you have absolutely no clue how to play against her, and that's why you always die.

Just because looping doesn't work doesn't mean she's OP.
Windows exist, and if you vault into her, that's on you for making the wrong read. (Not guess, read.)
8 -
You can hear her footsteps if she´s using her power
9 -
You could've just said that Spirit isn't fun to play against, get rid of the rest, and a lot more people would agree with you (including myself, even though I hardly play survivor these days).

Ehhhhhhh....

Okay, pls tell me how I can read her
1 -
Then tell my how to play against her, that would be more helpful. And okay I didn't know this with the ULTRA RARE add on.
0 -
ehh ? come and give me an advise if you know it better.
3 -
You can give me an advise too if you know it better, or you can stay so useless

i mean she glows when she is phasing which is how i tell, unless im too far away then i start walking to leave no scratch marks

Play her yourself is the best way. Watch a few videos, learn a few tricks and then start playing her.
You end up being able to read the scrub Spirits like a book. I remember being on a hill healing a survivor under a hook when a Spirit comes back. Shes waiting for the drop so she doesnt have to walk around so she stands still and pretends to phase. Other survivor was panicking but I knew she was faking it, then she moved, then she faked it again and I called it and kept trying to heal the other survivor, and I knew on the third go she was gonna phase for real so I point at the other survivor to run and yup spirit actually phase walks this time.
All I can say is play her and you will learn. This is what good survivors do to Spirits. So Spirits are then forced to play in unnatural ways to try and throw survivors off and survivors likewise.
General tips - First phase will almost always be a fake. Shes gonna watch and see how you react
At a loop dont ever run towards her, dont blindly run into the open either and dont stand still. Give it a second or two and then slowly start walking away. If she was faking and starts moving you can still get the pallet, if she was actually phasing then you have moved position and she wont land on top of you.
Its really hard to give general tips because it depends on where you are, whats nearby, how the spirit has been playing, how she thinks your playing, and whether you’re injured or not.
But playing her is the best way to help predict her next move.

She doesn't have counterplay, but crouch walking will mess with most of them. It muffled your sound by 50%, so with iron will, it counters stridor. In the end its pretty much up to the spirit of you die, but crouching can make them mess up. But if she stands still at a pallet, crouch immediately. Don't vault it, because 9 times out of 10, shes faking. Don't use windows unless you have to, because slow vaulting makes noise, and stay out of grass to avoid moving it. Listen for her footsteps, and if you hear them start running.

By watching how she plays. Force her into a lose-lose. Either you vault and she misses or you fake the vault and she (hopefully) misses.

as spirit main and dbd player -
my advise is to play her a bit. when i started playing dbd in 2018, i only played killer (billy) and it was a pain in the butt to manage his saw, get somehow good and end up rank 1...
but what helped me out was that moment when i decided to play survivor. i learned how to play and think as survivor and it made my life as killer easy. i do struggle against SWF teams on red ranks (sad to say that SWF is all i get 7 out of 10 games and 99% of them TOXIC!!!), but against solo or small teams i manage to do great!
if you play her you will see that its not easy at the beginning, but the more you play, the better you get (for every killer)-
rank 20 - 12 can be easy cause you play mostly against people who are new or somewhat new
12 - 5 its gonna get hard and you need to put more effort, choose the right perks for you and practice.
5 - 1 is a pain for most killers - need to be more creative especially against SWF.

use spinechill and sprint burst avoid getting hit when she is comming to you with her ability, delay the first hit as long as possible, drop those pallets play safe, you could also play ACE since he is the most silent survivor in the game, also you could try to use Iron will and do stupid stuff you wouldnt do against a normal killer but agaisnt her is a coin toss it may work by using 100% of your big fat brain to "outplay" the other big brain. the other thing you could do is running a flashlight, and try to blind her when she is not moving you can blind her if you cant she is phassing... if you dont have a flashlight never vault immediately just run to the opposite side then go back immediately. give her a reason to use her ability never vault back FAST imediatelly it wont work, then you could try to vault back FAST and then SLOWLY those are stupid gimmicks that may not work againSt a good spirit but it may work and if it does she has to wait 15 seconds extra to get her ability back (unless addons but most spirits dont use recovery addons just speed and duration) and with that the gens are flying.... winning "a mindgame" may win you the game as survivors...
so you dont have counterplay you have gimmicks and play safe, you could also try run the ant spirit build wich is Lithe Quick and Quiet Dance with me and Iron will or DS if u want. i mean thats an anti spirit build but not an anti whatever other killer you may go against so take that build with a grain of salt. if you couldnt lose her with that you probably wouldnt outsmart her by any other thing you could thought off anyway LOL. so yeah it is what it is.

(to people who think spirit has counters)
spirits use their power in short bursts so even if you throw them off they get their power back in 5s and do it again
0 -
I recommend these perks against Spirit
Iron Will (Tier 3, so she can't hear you while injured)
Lightweight (Tier 3, so its a little harder for her to track you with scratchmarks)
You can hear her footsteps when shes phase walking near you. If you try to blind her and it doesn't work, then shes phase walking.
Those perks are recommended against the Spirit. You can use 2 other perks with them.

Play spirit. I mean it, just go and get to the point where you feel confident with her. After you've done that you'll have an understanding of what tactics spirits use. Once you've played as her it's much easier to play against her. Because I main the spirit she's my favorite killer to verse because I understand her strengths and her weaknesses.
Now to be clear, while I don't feel the spirit is OP I actually don't think any killer is OP. Though I hate certain killers too (looking at you Bubba). And the Spirit is in my eyes just as powerful as Nurse.

probably quick and quiet, lithe and dance with me are better options... i mean those are 3 perks but way more reliable and easy to use...

The question is do she need counterplay? I mean, she still doesn´t 4k every game, does she? in my solo games, it happens sometimes, but more often than not 2 players at least escape, and 2k 2e is the balance the devs wish for, isn´t it?
She is in no way oppressive, even if its harder against her to escape a chase (but its still possible), and looping is a dynamic that should be removed from the game anyway, as its the most boring aspect of the game.

hold up: You mean to tell me crouching has given you +50% moan reduction this whole time?
0 -
Yup
1 -
I mained spirit, she needs to be brought down a notch
but all the vaunted killer mains will tell your how to counter her, then when called on it and their “counters” debunked, will just say you want all killers to be weak

First, sorry for all the immature comments you received in the beginning... it’s not what I think BHVR strives for, but know that there are others willing to help with your questions.
From my experience, something I have learned to do against Spirit is the moment you hear her phase and while you’re running, make small stops and walk and force her to rely on the direction of your scratch marks. This can be effective, but if she has the right add ons (Father’s Glasses for example) it might not always work. Alternatively for perks I would say bring Iron Will or Lightweight, Fixated.. I would put Iron Will at the top of the list because it gets rid of your grunts while injured by 100%. Which is a big deal.
Always remember that because she can’t see your character, she will have to guess your next move, especially if you’re in a specific spot. So for example if your sound is coming from a pallet she will more than likely immediately swing, thinking you will drop it down, that’s when I run to the pallet stop for a sec and walk away. To mind game her.
I hope this helps. 🤞

Well for one the entire coin toss argument insinuates there's only 2 outcomes..the thing about spirit is, shes blind during her phase and has no collision..which means there are jukes only she is susceptible to, things like the stand still mind game..dont let her use it..if you must..run from the tile and when you know she needs to phase to catch you try doubling back sometimes, if you treat spirit like a normal chase your eating raw blade fragments , but if you try to be as unpredictable as she is..using everything from windows to fire barrels to throw her off, you force her to figure you out..not the other way around..that's the real difference between good and bad spirits

I have given advise and ways to counter her nobody listens or I get an argument so what's the point
0 -
When in phasing, run back over your own scratch marks, or just start walking either forward or a different direction.
When near a pallet drop it and slow vault back over, or keep running.
Next time you're at a pallet while she's phasing drop the pallet and stay on the side you came from, or run back where you came from.
Same with windows fast vault and slow vault back.
Perks: iron will is good against her.
Using quick and quiet with lithe and dance with me also very strong against her at loops.
Just a few examples, there are a few more but mixing things up and you get into her head instead of she in yours
1 -
That's avoiding the chase I'm talking about the chase. If you step in a chase and injured she is not guessing. With stridor they can now hear your breathing much louder and locate you with that.
The spirit is never guessing if they just use their ears they have ALL the information. It's only somewhat s guess at windows but even then stridor/injured with no iron will is death.
I dont want an x perk response that's unhealthy by design.

So you are fine with a killer not having counterplay. The best spirits will obliterate solos, and most of swfs. Only the swf tourny teams will beat a great spirit. Other than that the average spirit can be beat by gen rushing which is boring for survivors and killers.
Then killers complain about gen rushing and it's just a circle of complaints.
0 -
Same bugs that hurt killers hurt survivors. Those footsteps arent consistent.
0 -
Sorry but there I have to agree to disagree tho.
I never use iron will and don't feel like using it.
And yet I still can loop and keep spirit busy for a long time and even escape 90% of the time.
So injured and no iron will doesn't doesn't mean you're death
1 -
Huh so you are playing against bad spirits. A good spirit will always capitalize that. No iron will/stridor does equal death. If you say these spirits are good record your next spirit game so we can see your chases and most importantly see how good the killer is.
0 -
Well, the best spirits should not play vs a lot of solos, and most swf, but only vs the best. That´s what matchmaking is for.
And to your second point: So, if spirit has counterplay, she can still be beaten by gen rushing if the survivors decide to, and also in 1v1, like a lot of other killers that are only viable if you get a potato team on the other side.
Giving her counterplay makes it easier for survivors to beat her, but does nothing for spirit, aside from taking away her ability to end a chase fast enough to apply pressure to the gens.
0 -
That's the way Spirit is suppose to be! A guessing game! Spirit is also a product of what's wrong with looping! Survivors are use to peaking around the corner and/or looking for the red stain to counter a killer! Spirit flips the script on survivors and they don't like that! While at the same time killers mindgaming is guessing and hoping that survivors bake a mistake!
Just because you can't mindlessly loop a killer doesn't mean they're broken!

👆 Someone understands it luckily 🤘✌️

1. The best spirits do happen to play against solos and win just how mm works it happens and sucks. It's terrible currently.
2. No every killer is viable and not just good due to potato survivors that's really huge claim to prove a point but go crazy.
3. She can be beaten by genrush which is boring. Survivors wouldnt be forced to gen rush her if she had chase counterplay. Also if she did the spirit would have a higher skill ceiling and people would actually have to improve their game more to play her. She would still have insane chase power but now it's harder to sue and shes no longer jsut a nurse for players who dont want to put in effort.
The devs also said DS used outside of tunneling is smart. By that logic you shouldnt complain about DS that stuns you when you arent tunneling but you so right?
It's not about mindless looping it's a killer that takes very little skill for a big payout that you cant really do anything against.
Cant argue yourself though lol. Never replied to me

I'm sorry to add this in But. aslong as there is swf and no changes with survivors perks. then spirit should remain as it stands to counter both swf / solo in general.
0 -
Then check my yt channel as there are some old once on there.
I hardly ever come across a spirit these days.
I'm not into trying to remember like "oh I need to record this for someone on the forum"

Ight ima check you out. That's fair I haven't faced a many spirits in the passed week.

I'm at that point with DS were idgaf anymore, survivors acting bold because of DS or force DS on me, I will make it my mission to make them wish they used DS to not be tunneled!
Granted there are still some problems with DS, but I firmly believe that if Enduring still had an effect on DS, the perk wouldn't be too much of a problem!
Sorry for the late reply, didn't get the notification

You can counter her pretty easily. Just hit Escape, Leave Game, Yes. Job done, find another insta-queue match with a more engaging killer who actually chases you. Keeps DBD pretty good imo.

So are you also the person who wants to get rid of the dc penalties then?
0 -
I don't care either way. DC penalties just mean that Spirits get BBQ stacks unfortunately, or we play Hide and Seek where I swap lockers the entire game.
0 -
Well do what you want. If you ever face a good looper that playstyle will be punished. Like the devs said it is a smart play to use outside of tunneling.
The stunn isnt even 5 seconds the animation is shorter. This was noticable because it used to show you the DS being used in the bottom right. With enduring you arent gaining distance.
You are fine for the late reply.

if only their was a perk to make survivors moan and breathe louder PeepoPolice
1 -
Please explain that for a bit.
How do you mean spirits get bbq stacks anyway when people dc?
