We have temporarily disabled Firecrackers and the Flashbang Perk due to a bug which could cause the Killer's game to crash. These will be re-enabled in an upcoming patch when the issue is resolved.

Ideas for Change in Matchmaking

This idea will address 2 factors for a (hopefully) better matchmaking experience

1: Survive With Friends

  • SWF players join their own lobby first. Then, they click to join a lobby once everyone is ready. When ready, their average Rank is calculated. For instance, a 2-person SWF, one player is Rank 6, and the other is Rank 10, the average would be Rank 8.
  • Once the average Rank of the SWF group is found, it will then match with a killer around that average Rank (in this case, Rank 8 or higher).
  • Rank leaning will be factored in if the SWF group contains members of different rank classes. In this instance, the killer's rank will be higher than the group average if one player's rank is higher than the others.
  • With rank leaning, matchmaking will factor in the highest ranked player, not the lowest to prevent a Rank 2 survivor from being matched with a Rank 15 killer while the other survivors are all Rank 20 or higher.

2: Rank + Character Level.

  • Rank is shared among all characters (killer or survivor), but currently does not factor in character level.
  • You can be a Rank 15 killer, but want to try out a Level 1 killer (like for a PTB) and lack the blood points to level them up, it puts you at a disadvantage of being stuck with 1 Tier 1 perk while facing a survivor with 4 Tier 3 perks (or vice versa).
  • Locks character selection to the character you joined the lobby as. Allows change to other characters as long as they are within 5-10 levels of the character you loaded in as. For instance, if you join a lobby as a Level 1 character, you can change to any character that is below Level 10, but not higher. This will prevent matching with low level characters, then switching to a high level character.
  • Also disables access to the blood web while in the lobby. This will prevent a player with a ton of blood points from joining a lobby as a low level character, then leveling them up to be a mid or high level character.

These changes are intended to give all players a fair chance at winning, and not have a huge skill gab between players.

SWF should face a killer at the same rank the highest survivor has. Clearly playing SWF puts them already in an insane advantage and in a game where you can effectively 1vs1 the killer, calculating the average of ranks is simply not fair.
