DC penalties should be stricter

The amount of people DC’ing has increased significantly recently for me and many others, I’ve played as survivor and killer and come across people who would DC as soon as they are downed or very early on in the match, if the DC penalty was stricter then it would prevent the types of players doing what they are doing.

currently the penalties have been removed as there are a group of people that are assigning penalties to people that don't even dc. I just had a match that 3 people dc'd on my (I was the killer). it prevented me from getting my hooks. i'd love it if a dc gave me 3 hook states (or the remaining of the 3 hook states of the player) for that one. and it would be as if they were hooked 3 times. I'm getting tired of this myself as both survivor and killer. I agree 5 minutes for the first, and 10 minutes for the second may be ok because there are legit times people get a dc and it's not intentional, but there is no way to know if it's intentional or not.

Honestly, yesterday I was playing against a leatherface, and I ran him long enough for three generators to be popped, almost got the second phase on my first hook, and two people D/C the first time they get picked up/are hooked.

The only person who didn't D/C in the game was the other person on Xbox and the killer that was on another platform. Only knew cuz I was on Xbox.

D/C penalties just need to be fixed, people are taking advantage of it and abusing it.

+1 People DC left and right (going for challenges is impossible cuz they will just dc to prevent you gettin your emblems).

And what measures would you have set to protect the people that get screwed over? Hacker lobbies, taking the game hostage, connection issues, bugs, glitches and that good old fashioned mechanical failure?

I see an average of 1-2 disconnects within every two games.

Here is the simple fix we need “Leave Game” option is removed there should never be an option to leave in a game that requires so much teamwork and can’t be filled in by another player. If not that then we need the salt mines.

dc penaltys did nothing survivors can just bypass it by suiciding killers can just afk the match they have zero use in this game.

Removing the option will not change anything. People can just close the game, give up on the hook or go afk.

You can never force people to play a game they don't enjoy so instead of punishing the symptoms (DCs) the devs should fix the cause (which is easier said than done).

The cause is literally any minor inconvenience “oh no I got hit I must dc” oh no they broke my ruin must dc” so if not removing the options add the salt mines where you will only play with other dcers and have fun trying to have fun with everyone as well quitting on you

Sounds like a person who also frequently dc ... dc penalty had a great effect on games its just once again disabled. Even if they suicide on hook the killer would get atleast the hook score while atm they just dc before hook or on the ground.

DC Penalty also reduced the number of swf tactical dc to give the other survivor hatch. If you dont hook em they cant kill themself so you can go for a 4k.

People are DCing because DC penalties are disabled.

Time penalties literally mean nothing. I could DC, get the penalty, and go make something to eat and come back and it's gone. If they really want to punish DC, make it a BP % loss. DC once and you lost 25% BP in your next match, 2nd 50%, 3rd 75% and cap it there, so they still get 25%, but losing a % would maybe deter DC'ers. Maybe not since BP means nothing to some people, but it's maybe sightly better than a timeout.

It took me 6 matches to get the "kill all 4 survivors by any means" challenge done because 1 or more DC'd from each match, and that doesn't count as a sacrifice or a kill. I wouldn't have minded it if I'd genuinely failed to kill all 4 and had to try again, but being denied a challenge completion because a DC Technically doesn't count? Not that is should, but sigh with the recent rise in DC's I've encountered, I can see where this is going... Soon the DC's will reach "epidemic" levels again like in April-July 2019, wherein 9 out of every 10 games had 1 or more players DC, and the game started losing players en masse, because what's the point of playing if you never have a full match?

The whole reason the DC penalties were implemented in the first place was to bandage the game so it would stop hemorrhaging players who were no longer able to have fun, and for a good while it made the game playable again, but that all changed when hackers figured out how to tamper with it and deliver unfair penalties on players they were matched with. I believe the reason this is possible is because the DC penalty system is Client side controlled, in that your own game client tracks when you DC or quit the game during a match and then applies an automatic penalty. Since its directly in the game clients code, and not monitored or delivered via server side, Hackers are able to abuse other players clients and send false information to the games logs. A quick verification check from the server side should be all that's necessary to prevent this from happening, and maybe/hopefully that's what the devs are working on, but until then we're stuck returning to "the bad old days" of players DC'ing for any and every petty reason they can think of.

I hate this. This game is one of my favorites to play, but to see it dying again because a bunch of bratty, narcissistic, over-entitled, unsportsmanlike, douche bags ruining the fun for everyone with the devs unable to put an immediate stop to it... is really depressing.
