There isn't much difference between PC survivors and Console Survivors

Since the implementation of cross play I've seen countless comments from content creators, reddit users, forum users etc. that console players aren't at the same level as PC players.

This might be true for the killer side of the game, as console killers suffer from FPS issues which is to no fault of their own. However, there really isn't much difference between a PC survivor and a console survivor.

I'm a killer main, so I often play against survivors from different platforms. The only edge PC survivors have is that they could potentially have a better technique. I.e having sharper movement and being able moonwalk across the map, even then some survivors can moonwalk on console. Both aren't necessarily important in a match

As these are the required skills you need to be a good/strong survivor:

  • To know that when they are not being chased, they should split up and work on generators. If the killer has interrupts your gen progress, have a chase route planned.
  • Have good map and tile knowledge, so you can run (loop) the tiles as optimal as possible.
  • Have good tactical/game awareness, for example knowing how to avoid giving the killer a 3 gen strat.
  • Be able to handle mind games.
  • Know how to get fast vaults from tight angles.

The skills I mentioned above are things a player can do with a mouse and keyboard or with a controller.

If a survivor is bad it's because they're bad at the game, regardless of what platform they're on. For example if a survivor is urban evading around the map, not doing anything, or they're self caring with sloppy butcher and thana. They're doing it because of their lack of game knowledge and awareness, not due to their chosen platform.

For example I've played against some Legacy survivors, who were probably some of the worst (experienced) survivors I've ever played against. I actually assumed they must have got the Legacy skins through hacking, but I went on their profile and saw that they legitimate legacy players.

Legacy players are PC players, however, they were just bad at the game regardless of their platform.

I agree. Not much of a difference between Console Survivors and PC Survivors, especially not at Red Ranks.

Of course there are potatoes on every platform, nobody said all PC survivors are great and all console survivors are bad. But the best PC survivors are better than the better console survivors.

From what i've encountered, i could agree.

The biggest thing i noticed is how fast one can 360, but 360s on PC Ultra Rare-ly work on me, so console players is even easier to me in that regard.

I've heard that higher frames make it easier to hit great skillchecks so PC Survivor could have a slight advantage in that area, but that shouldn't be to impactful for the match Overall, because Ruin was changed and great skillchecks only give a 1% Bonus.

From what I've personally encountered, nearly every console player I've played with is a complete brainlet. I've gotten used to dumb survivors on PC, but with crossplay it's become a wave of stupidity for me. Some console players I've played with have been so stupid they're on another plane of existance. But, I've also had some good console teammates so...I guess I've just had bad luck.

Really? The instant I turned off cross play, the difficulty level of the survivors shot up. This was before rank reset, I should say. Most importantly, it felt like I stopped bullying players with less skill.

Yeah there's no real difference. That's greatly exaggerated. I feel like PC has the very best survivors but also the very worst and console is inbetween. Likely due to PC having a larger dedicated base of players that have been around for 4 years, these are the people with 5k+ hours, but then you get the more casual crowd, the people that download the game on their laptop and play with a trackpad, these are your potatoes.

Overrall though console survivors are not as bad as people make out. Honestly I think I'd rather have console survivors on my side they seem to at least try to play normally, pc has more afk players and complete potatoes.

Only difference I notice in game is that PC survivors drop a safe pallet and either run or spin in circles to watch you break it, console survivors drop the pallet and stand there motionless until they see you break it. It's a minor detail but I notice it pretty consistently.

which is why i despise all these "a message to console player" threads and vice versa its so dumb the skill gap for survivor as such little diffrence between console and pc. but everyone focuses on bad players

because ive seen console survivors run battleguys billy for 2+ minutes

The issue here is that while the average survivor will largely be the same, the true difference comes from potential, which is aimed exclusively at those with thousands of hours. KBM (not just PC, but the control method, you can use gamepad on PC too) simply offers sharper controls that make it easier to run loops more tightly and that are more reliably capable of making a killer whiff.

Higher frame rates mean a significantly higher chance to do better on skillchecks, which can be especially important in matches where skillchecks aren't typical, i.e. unnerving presence or an Impossible Skillcheck Doctor.

But the most important difference I've seen is simply that console survivors don't actually seem to look behind them very often. PC potatoes often don't as well, but looking behind you is like looping 101. You can do it on a gamepad, but it's just a lot more awkward because you can't flip the camera back and forth to check in front and behind you as easily. This is not a trivial difference. You might be able to get to the next tile or whatever, but it makes the ability to quickly and accurately mindgame not as effective, which means you could be losing out on precious time by getting downed earlier.

Of course, yet again, for the average player, none of this stuff matters too much. All of the game's biggest issues or differences don't really impact the average player all that much. Which is both good and bad. Good in that a large percentage of the playerbase isn't impacted by frustrating issues because they don't care or aren't at that level of skill yet, and bad because it makes those issues or differences less likely to be addressed.

But you only have to watch some of Ayrun's crazy spins in his latest video to understand the true difference. Most of us don't try to pull spins like that (and frankly the spins are a last-ditch effort once you're caught out in the open) but you can see how when it works it buys him an amazing amount of time. He's still no Fingerguns, though.

(The secret biggest difference is that like every other console player takes self-care and unironically heals across the map for half an hour every time they get hit.)

I disagree. I definitely have easier matches when there's more console players in my lobby. Personally I don't think it has as much to do with skill as with bad habits.

Console players seem to play the early game very differently. With PC, when you start the match and head for far away gens, you'll usually find one at like 75% and maybe another at 50%, and there's survivors on it that get into a chase right away. Console prefer to wait out you finding someone else and then start on the gens. It means I need a lot less pressure early to do well.

Then there's chases. Console players LOVE to try to 360, and against PC killers it usually means taking a hit where they might have made it somewhere else instead, especially when part of their injured sprint is wasted on finishing a spin. It obviously works against console killers, but bringing that bad habit to crossplay means that chases end faster and more easily against console players. It's not that they're bad, but that strategies that they've been trained into thinking work now put them at a disadvantage.

Also, when you get a lobby with a handful of console players, it's far more likely they aren't SWF since they could be across multiple platforms than a full lobby of PC players which is rare now outside of 4 mans. That will always make console players feel easier to beat though has nothing to do with their platform.
