Help Me Pick A Killer?
I've got a solid handle on Survivor, but I'd really like to rank up and get reliable results as Killer. My main is Ghostface, and I either 4k or nothing at all. I use BBQ+Thrilling Tremors+I'm All Ears+Noed which is decent- so the issue here is Operator Error. I need to git good, lol
SO, I need training wheels, fam! What is a good Killer to learn basics on and improve? I have all dlc but tend to play Wraith or Doctor as alternates. Appreciate you and your advice!

I'd do Clown for Pop goes the Weasel, definitely a great perk for gen regression and goes great with thrilling tremors.
As for killer it depends on your playstyle. If you watch Otzdarva he has a Playlist on the killers and there strengths and weaknesses. A lot of it comes to the individual player though.

If you want to learn basic mechanics of killer I suggest you run trapper with corrupt intervention, pop, discordence, and bbq. That gives you enough gen info and hopefully gen regression, use the time from corrupt to set up a gen strategy. This perk set up imo will teach you how to chase without any help from perks. Herd them into the traps, play smart, it will take time but you will learn it's a time management strategy that matters. I know from reading on the forums there are better trappers then me so I know there are better builds but I think this will let you learn the basics. Watch Otz for some tutorials on trapper. He is a top rank trapper so I know he has knowledge and good luck in the fog killer 😨

A killer for learning the game? Legion or Freddy. Legion is the most basic killer (though not the easiest), and learning them will give you skills you can apply to all m1 killers.
Freddy is the easiest killer in the game, he gets free map pressure, and if you ignore his snares you will be able to practice chases and get free map pressure with his teleport.

It's Legion ironically because looping in Frenzy is most similar to looping as Survivor since you can vault pallets and have a Survivor's vault speed. So they're probably the easiest to learn Killer on as a Survivor main. Plus, the tracking is some of the best in the game so you can find immersion gamers and have better map awareness in general with where everyone is with Killer Instinct.
Also, Legion lets you practice your traditional 115% M1 Killer skills as well because that's how actually they get downs. Basically, if you can play Legion well, you'll have most of the skills needed for every other Killer, but it won't be as punishing as a Killer like Ghost Face to learn. I'm a Rank 1 Survivor and a Rank 1 Killer and I played Legion almost exclusively to hit red ranks, so I'm kinda biased tho

Probably Wraith. He's the best starting killer for noobies. At core he's just an M1 killer so learning him will basically teach you how to play the others. His stealth aspect helps you get in close and then from there it comes down to your chase skills. Learn how to run loops, use mindgames, moonwalk, and overall just be unpredictable. With enough experience this will all just eventually become second nature.
Now that I think about it you could also just continue to main Ghostface. He's also an M1 killer at core but with a stalk ability and a better stealth ability. Only difference is that he's slower so it's up to you. He's actually one of my secondary mains tied with Trapper. I run Nurse's, Whsipers, Enduring, and Spirit Fury with double recharge on mine and it works just fine for me but I think you'd probably want to use some slowdown. Just experiment and find whatever works for you.

If you wanna stick with Ghostface I'd personally drop BBQ and NOED. Your thrilling gives you the same if not more info than BBQ and fill the same role basically. I'd level Nurse for Nurses Calling and then use Sloppy if you want the basic hit and run build. I'm All Ears is actually underappreciated in my opinion. I ran it all the time when I got the game got a ton of use out of it. If you want help in the early game corrupt would be better though. Ghostface is played differently than most killers so if you just play him you might fall short on some aspects of the game in the long run.
There's a few good builds that come to mind. One is super info based, the other chase based, and then one that's just the basic hit and run.
- Thrilling, Corrupt, Nurses, and Discordance. This is good if you aren't committing to chases and have his recovery addons.
- Stfbl, Pop, Corrupt, and Enduring or Brutal Strength. This is basically what a clown player would use. Alright on every m1 killer.
- Nurses, Corrupt, Thana, and Sloppy if you just want to be Tru3Ta1ent.

Ya went Wraith with Distressing, Monitor and Abuse, Coulrophobia and Victroyphobia. Discussion ovah!

Play the easy killers like spirit. She's low skill high reward so you will do well while learning how to loop and such. It'll also force you to pay more attention to sounds and your surrounding.

Play Nurse. Perkless/no add ons. Just learn her blinks.
You will suffer. Your rank will drop to 21.
Then you'll be reborn and hit Rank 0.

I was also gonna recommend this.
Nurse is Supreme. She is The Killer.
The only downside is that if you decide to main her without bothering with the rest is that you won't know how to deal with loops if you get bored of playing her and decide to play any other killer.
But if you're like me and don't mind any of that then go for it. She's all you'll ever need.

I hate to say it, but Freddy is probably the easiest killer for learning the basics:
- He's a basic M1 killer who has access to both traps (Dream Snares/Pallets) and a form of mobility (Dream Projection). He's very straightforward, but very competent.
- Because he has no special attacks, he is ideal for learning how to play most structures and generic tiles optimally as killer. You don't need to worry about figuring out how to Pinball as Blight, Curve as Oni/Billy, Blink/Teleport as Nurse/Hag, or avoid objects like Leatherface.
- His traps can help teach you tricks that might be useful on both Trap killers (Trapper/Hag/Demogorgon) and Clown (the other killer who shortens loops by slowing survivors). Plus they can be set quickly, don't reduce Freddy's movement speed, offer a TON of information, and Freddy gets a whole bunch of them.
- Dream Projection is useful for getting around the map to pressure survivors off of gens (especially when combined with good tracking like BBQ/Discordance and good stalling like Pop or Thrilling Tremors). Can also be used in chase to craftily cut off survivors or fake them out (if they see you doing it).
He's pretty boring to play against as survivor (exacerbated by many of his add-ons), but I think he is one of the best killers for learning the role in his modern state.

Join me in learning Drunk Nurse Kung Fu Style LOL, just kidding. You can still learn sober nurse, we need more nurses.

Thanks for the advice and thoughts! After considering it I will give Nurse a try. I'm a little hesitant based on hearing some players say she's been nerfed into the ground, but I love her power and lore.
Wh-What is this? *squints* Is that a Killer build or a player buff? Lol

If you go for nurse like other players recommended, just know that you won’t learn anything about looping. You’ll become a rank 1 nurse and still be a rank 20 anything else (except maybe spirit and Freddy which are easy af, then you’ll stick to rank 2 with them).
So, learn nurse to have a killer with a completely unique play style, but I’d recommend wraith too to learn looping and mindgaming. Bear in mind they’re both pretty difficult, nurse because of her blinks, while wraith because he’s purely m1. You might lose for a while even badly, but if your mindset is that of getting better then I guess you can endure some losses at first
