Should items be hidden from lobbies?

I've played this game since release starting as a survivor main and now try my best to play both sides equally. As a survivor, the killer can see what items you bring in the lobby before the game even starts (excluding add-ons) but survivors have no information on the killer before the match starts.

Is it fair for killers to see items brought into matches because it's still 4v1 against them or is it fair game?

I'm also excluding any survivors who switch last second to a character with a prepped item already on them cause yes you can do that but I wanted to get the community's thoughts on this in general.

I've always felt everything except for items should be hidden.

Items can be very powerful and it makes sense for observant killers to be able to plan around them.

I always thought that survivors should just appear as defaults with items in hand - not showing name/page/cosmetics.

I've had so many killers dodge lobbies when they see survivors in paid cosmetics/legacy or tunnel/mori a name they recognize.

    They should hide the items.

Names and Profiles should be hidden, but no Items.

They serve the purpose of allowing a killer to setup so they should stay.

What would be better is system where survivors are locked in first giving killers time to setup along with a leaving the lobby timeout as we should accept the game as it is.

Leave it as is, I can always check profiles to see if they're swf and what items they're bringing. helps me plan.

It'd make Franklin's Demise useless, you either dedicate a Perk slot to it every match and just hope Survivors brought enough Items or burnt enough Coins to make it worthwhile or you don't and you just hope Survivors didn't bring items or burnt Coins.

Well, the reason survivors can´t see the killer is that there are survvior perks (and items), that can counter certain killers power, or at least a big portion if it. You face the doctor? Bring calm spirit. Trapper? Smallgame. Hag? Urban evasion or a flashlight. A stealth killer? Chilling spine. Plague? Well, dont bring medkits, bring something else.

Killer don´t have perks that are designt to counter special items. They have franklins, but they have to get the survivor, and he has to not hidden his key or whatever. On an already depleted item, its next to useless.

Should've been this for a long time. Especially when the killer has the power to target one survivor they don't like.

A survivor’s items are the equivalent to a killer’s ability. Be able to see their items is like showing the killer to the survivors. While the killer has the privilege to plan for items, possible offerings, and player skill level (including swf); survivors don’t. While I won’t say that the survivors should have the same privilege, there should be some anonymity for survivors. Such as hiding profiles/user names and any cosmetics. A killer that sees a lobby of 4 Neas or Megs, all with legacy cosmetics, will likely either dodge the lobby or change their set up to match a toxic play style in anticipation for a similar one for the team. This could even give killers information whether or not the survivors could be friends, which isn’t bad per say but once again could cause the same reactions previously stated. I personally would like some way to have that anonymity but understand that some parts of the information given to killers are extremely helpful to make important decisions. Sorry if we can’t agree, but if you have any better reasons against my point feel free to discuss it with me.

Imo names should be hidden, items do not.

Why? Because when playing killer you can see what they have and play around it, a key? Yeah in case that last gen is about to pop, make sure you know where the hatch is.

A medkit? I have no issues with medkits but I know people who have.

A flashlight when you are playing wraith/hag? Bring franklins or something like that.

I think names should be hidden because of toxicity, you know what I mean right? Stuff like "oh this ttv again?" Most killers will bring a mori or evade playing against ttv players.

Why do I think killer addons should be hidden? To test players their knowledge on the other side, wraith moving fast? Windstorm, trapper has dark traps? Be careful when not in chase.

Remember that it is 1v4 so if the 4 know what addons the killer have then they could bring stuff to play around X killer.

"Oh nancy masterpiece? It's a freddy let's all bring OoO to always know where he is"

If items are hidden killers can't bring the appropriate power level with addons

"Oh boy I can't wait to play clown with 2 brown addons to save some of my better ones" -clown that's about to learn the survivor team has 4 toolboxes

No, the point of showing items is to allow killers to adapt to what survivors have. Imagine not being able to tell if survivors had keys or maps? That would be awful.

People seem to be showing a double standard that the killer should know what a survivor is bringing while the survivor can’t. You say it’s to help the killer prepare but the survivor is in the dark of who they will be playing against. I so far have seen not much of an extreme game play difficulty from this mechanic but remember that what you’re talking about is a blatant double standard. A killer is made with the fact that they will be facing 4 others and thus have received strong differences to make them viable: higher mobility, special powers, etc. The 1v4 argument is a direct reference to the fact that the killer should still be able to get at least a 2k despite addons and perks, those being spices that change up the game or provide certain advantages (sometimes at the cost of another one). This is for both sides and if a survivor could reliably escape a killer with similar skill with a 40-50% success rate than the 1v4 argument would be valid but it isn’t. A 1v1 would be an overwhelming disadvantage to survivors, even 1v2 would be very one sided. I hope you can understand my point, and I’m always willing to discuss this further if you have a better argument.

You're on the right track, killers so get a lot of info compared to survivors. I think they should hide survivors usernames at the very least.
