How can Camping, slugging & Tunneling be part of the game when they are so crassly against the lore?

The whole idea behind survivors being able to struggle and unhook each other is to keep up their hope of survival, right? So, if a killer is actively taking this hope away from denying the survivors the chance... wouldn't that go against what the entity brought them into the fog for?

the entity does punish camping and tunneling through the emblem system.

'the food was utterly salty and bitter, waiter was an utter prick. 1/10 would not recommend'

  • There's always a difference in every game with lore in comparison to actual gameplay. In for honor, shugoki has a club exactly like Oni and is supposed to be this beast of a man, but a small buckler like gladiator's or a katana is fit to block an entire blow of a momentum based heavy club?

It's for the sake of balance, on top of them adding certain perks that necessitate counter play. If we boil it down to just lore reasons, why does the entity help a survivor with the perk of repressed alliance? Why can't a killer getting looped around a truck on autohaven just vault over the truck?

You're supposed to have a suspension of disbelief so the gap of lore and gameplay can be mended. Just think of it like this, the entity doesn't have to make the trial fair. But the game devs *do*.

Its also against the lore that one survivor can 1v1 the killer. The survivors are encouraged to work together to get the generators, or be a lone wolf and go for hatch.

The Lore says the Entity is about crushing their hope, through an ENDLESS series of trials. It doesn't matter if they die fast in one and get hooked three times in another. No individual trial matters, it is the endless grind.

In lore survivors feel pain from being hurt and they actually suffer from damage and some of them go insane from that. Where's that?

In lore it is implied that survivors don't actually keep the memories of trials (Arcus 893), unless they write them down and have enough willpower not to go insane from the horror happening to them, so basically survivors are facing everything like in the first time, otherwise they'll quickly get used to that and become useless as emotional batteries. Should this major part of the role, which basically explains how entity could feast so much, be in the game too?

Oh, there's also a lovely part where Entity gets ######### rid of the souls which become useless and don't provide enough emotions to it anymore.

Let's FULLY stick to the lore, this is going to make the game so much better, right?

It's killer dependent, I think. With Hag, it's practically impossible to tunnel - if you do, you're playing her terribly and will probably lose every game - and it's equally stupid to camp.

And while you can slug, it's pretty silly to as you're wholly dependent on survivors doing bold actions to be able to hit anyone. You slug against players who know how to play against you, they'll just slow things down a bit, do some safe gens... hide out and wait for their friends to crawl out to the sides of the map where it's safe.

As Hag, you always want to be hooking. You want to constantly be making the survivors go places they don't want to - slugging does the opposite. It makes them stay in places they know is safe and play very carefully. They know they have a very long time to pick up fallen survivors, so they don't have to rush things. Hooking is what puts actual time pressure on them.

    Short answer: tactics.

Long answer: Unless you are talking about blatant troll/facecamping before the final gen, these things are done for a reason that make sense ingame.

    • Slugging is done to do push someone away/chase someone/do something else without wasting endless time hooking. Or it's done because you ran to a spot without any nearby hooks.
    • Camping is a way to force the game to center in on more favorable terrain.
    • Tunneling is simply a way to eliminate someone dangerous as soon as possible, or (let's face it) killing that guy that ran into you after he was unhooked.
