If Killers were Survivors and Survivors were Killers.....

Just wanna say up front, this isn't a suggestion, it's just a fun creative exercise to overcome some Writer's Block I've had lately. Nonetheless, feel free to call everything in here a pointless pile of crap. That's fine. Consider this a creative shitpost.

I had this fun thought last night - How would a role reversal work in DBD and what would the new killers/survivors look like. How would the new game work, how would the new survivors play and what would the new killers look like.

Lore: For every power that rises, an opposite power either exists or comes to be. While not as strong as the Entity, this essence is willful and determined - and the Entity is distracted by a game within its realm. An opportunity like this may not emerge again for eons, so the Essence risks all in a surprise attack on the Entity's realm. The resulting infiltration took the Entity completely by surprise, leaving it exposed and briefly forcing it to materialize in a physical form. Generators turned to Fonts, Gates turned to Seals. The survivors, utilizing the Essence's power and guidance, isolated the fonts of the Entity's power, cutting it off from them and drove its now powerless physical form behind two powerful Seals.

With the Entity imprisoned and cut off from its power, The former survivors now turn on those who have been tormenting them. The Entity's former servants, now stripped of their power, must find a way to release the Entity... before those empowered by the Essence claim their overdue justice.

The Essence: In stark contrast to the Entity, the Essence is kin that feeds of righteousness and justice. Now that it has temporarily occupied the Entity's realm, it has reversed the game from what it was. Unstoppable killers have been stripped of their power and made mortal, while those pure of heart have been empowered by divine might to hunt their former tormentors and bring them to justice by laying them upon altars, to be judged by the Essence. These judgements empower the Essence, helping it gain the strength to permanently oppose the Entity and place the cosmos back in balance.

The Survivors must destroy 5 Containment Vessels and ultimately throw open one of the gates to release The Entity. After being released and reunited with its full power, the Entity will easily be able to overpower the Essence and cast it out of its domain once and for all.

The Killer must bind survivors to Altars for the Essence to judge them. Only through this act of righteous justice can the Essence gain the power it needs to grow in strength and keep the Entity contained until such time as it can equal its power.

Sample Survivors:

Evan. Main Perk: Trapped Alter. The survivor can sabotage an altar without a toolbox or notifying the killer. If a survivor is placed upon this altar, the altar breaks and the survivor is dropped into a dying state with an additional 25% wiggle progress. Only two altars can be trapped this way at a time. Altars repair after 30 seconds.

Sally. Main Perk: Nurse's Calling. Wounded survivors are able to see Sally's aura at all times. Sally and anyone within 8 meters of her treats wounds 15% faster. This effect lasts for 15 seconds upon leaving Sally's range.

Anna. Main Perk: Territorial Instinct. When a Killer walks within 32 meters of a damaged Containment Vessel, you can see their aura for 3 seconds. This effect can only trigger once every 40/30/20 seconds. While Injured, the survivor will faintly hum a lullaby to calm themselves. This can be heard 8 meters further away than injured grunts.

Frank. Main Perk: Desperate Frenzy. While on the Altar, gain 4/5/6 additional chances to rip free of the constraints. Chances of successfully breaking free improve by 4/6/8%. Impacts of wiggling are also increased by 75%.

Sample Killers:

The Druid. Armed with a knowledge and empathy of Nature itself, the Druid wields a sickle and is capable of creating patches of ensnaring flowers and plants, grasping at the feet of survivors, Hindering them. The Druid can also blend in with her environment. While Blending, the Druid appears invisible at distances further than 24 meters and reduces the size of her Justice radius by half. She vanishes completely when not moving. While not moving, her Justice radius is completely suppressed.

The Brawler. The dead hard Brawler uses his fists to deliver justice. He is capable of slowly walking while focusing for 2 seconds. Upon finishing, he's capable of delivering an extended lunge punch capable of taking a healthy survivor down to dying. The maximum distance he can lunge is 24 meters, but while lunging, he moves extremely fast and is able to vault over pallets.

The Soldier. The unbreakable soldier has fought the forces of evil and has come prepared. While significantly slower than the average killer, his hunting rifle is capable of dispensing justice up to 18 meters away. His rifle breaks after six shots, requiring him to get another from a locker. A headshot is capable of downing even healthy survivors.

The Paragon. The nervous leader has been directly touched by the Essence and wields a righteous gavel in hand. Now a finger of the benevolent force, he's capable of unleashing an aura of atonement. Upon unleashing, any survivor within range cries out in anguish as their sins crawl up their spine. Being hit by the Paragon or remaining in his justice radius gradually overcomes survivors with guilt, progressive into Phase I, Phase II and Phase III. Tasks become progressively harder and the Paragon's justice radius becomes all encompassing. The survivor can break out of Phase III by seething in place until focused once more.

I don't even think you need to alter the Entity. It's sense of humor is rotten enough to just snatch the roleswap versions from their respective timelines and through them into the mix for s--ts and giggles.

As for the roleswaps (I had a thread like that somewhere, maybe we should have the mods merge things?)

I'd always see Jake become 'the raven king', an avian humanoid bestowed by the entity with power over the crows on the map, using them to move around (teleport) and attack...

That's probably fair, though from what I've seen of the Entity, it still is a malevolent, self-serving being who ultimately gets fed by those who do evil in his name... although that's a hugely viable end game for it: drive the survivors so mad and crazy, THEN flip the tables on them... let the survivors get revenge... to create a cycle of hatred that's like a self-sustaining battery.

    That's actually pretty cool.

The siren (Kate): Her power will lull survivors into a sense of false security and reveal their location. When she uses her power all survivors in a 40 meter radius are given the oblivious status effect which is gone if she is nearby (10 meters). All survivors will hum the tune that the siren sings revealing their location to her. The siren can charge her voice and scream deafening every survivor in a 20 meter radius and injuring any survivor the scream is directed at.
