Let Killers DS Themselves
When confronted with late-game abuse of DS (to hook trade 4 people into an escape, to fearlessly work on the last gen with unbreakable, etc) people always say "oh just eat the DS early in the game". This is a good point, but since you need to down someone, hook them, down them again, grab them, which means it's midgame by the time you even could deliberately take someone's DS away.
DS also has a lot of power because you don't know if someone has it until they've been unhooked and are working on a gen/hiding in a locker in front of you.
Suggestion: if you as a killer are carrying someone, and you push the Active Ability button, then that person will use their DS on you. No skill check, instant success, the person is now off your shoulder and running free.
This allows killers to voluntarily "eat" a DS early game in exchange for prolonging the game + letting that survivor go free. FOR EXAMPLE if you down 3 people in a row at a hook through sheer luck, but don't want to wait or have the game be over, you can pick one up, hit the Active Ability button, and if the person has DS, they use it on you and go free. You can then either chase them OR grab another person, and test. If they have no DS, nothing happens, if they have DS, they go free.
It's a gamble, you're giving up a confirmed hook (since you can only use this if the person wouldn't have DS-ed you otherwise, maybe make it so if someone misses their DS on purpose, the force DS button doesn't work, allowing a mindgame/double bluff), but it also lets a killer truly choose to "eat a DS" intentionally, preserving their momentum later in the game but you can only do this if you're in a good position.
This also removes the issue of DS being super powerful /even if no one on the team has it/ (something Otz and Scott Jund recently pointed out) because now you can pick up the Obsession and see if they have DS. This also rewards you with information for downing the obsession then letting them go free, which is thematic (if you down the obsession and hit the Force DS button, and the player doesn't DS you, maybe no one has DS and the obsession is from your own ability)
