So I replayed the Outlast Trilogy

I gotta say I am reminded why I loved the series to begin with however I do have some pros and cons, but I'll go over a bit why it should be in DBD So let's begin

Pros: First of all I love the atmosphere and environment of the first game, the feel of the asylum was so soothing and disturbing, in a way it really was on the nose for what it wanted to be. The characters are very unique and are very different from one another, that is something I truly love when it comes to horror games, one of my favorite characters is Richard Trager/The Surgeon, of all the characters he is the most entertaining, and disturbing of the first game. My only wish is that he was around for much longer, and instead of a one time moment. However in canon lore through the comics they confirmed they can bring someone back from the dead, so I hope they do so for Trager. The mechanics of Outlast were very terrifying to say the least, with you not being able to fight back made me feel helpless and terrified, more so then Silent hill ( Don't take that the wrong way though please)

Now Whistle-blower was an amazing DLC, it is in my opinion one of the best DLC's for a horror game. It added a new addition to Outlast and told a different side of the story that was already told, with character as disturbing as Eddie Gluskin Whistle-blower is a DLC I won't ever be forgetting, and is the only time where the ending in any of the two is actually a good ending.

Now Outlast 2 was a very unique take on a cult like style, though featuring same core mechanics as Outlast, it felt entirely different, with a war between two cults. In short this game felt like a huge middle finger to the Catholic church, which is a bit off putting but not complaining. It did explore what a paranormal side of Outlast and what it would have looked however, so I would definitely like for them to explore more on that.

The music for both games is phenomenal, the chase music is particularly my favorite thing to listen too, I wish we got more chase music like that in DBD,

Cons: Now with all these nice features there is some things that aren't the best. For one in some occasions the game feels very repetitive which can create a stressful environment and makes the game less fun. Some occasions of this was the sewers, though an iconic location and scary one it still felt repetitive and un fun. And the ending of Outlast was a decent one it just wasn't what I was expecting and made me go like What? But now that I read the comics and played the DLC I now understand but I shouldn't have done those things in order for me to fully understand.

And the same problem was with the Whistle-blower it made me run in circles during both bits of the Eddie Gluskin area and when dealing with Frank Manera. However the stuff that happens to Waylon Park ( The main protagonist of the dlc) is so unrealistic it amazes me that he is even alive. First of all he falls storys up from the ground and crashes through the roof of a building and lands on concrete floor, all the more while, having the same thing except with an elevator where a piece of wood gets jammed into his leg causing him to limp the entire time, and on top of that get stabbed in the belly in the end and live without needing medical help. ######### game what kind of plot armor is that, seriously this man could survive Jigsaws trials even let alone Silent Hill all by himself, however it just makes this guy more of a badass sure but I feel it unnecessary at times and unrealistic.

Now Outlast 2, is by far the most messed up horror game I have ever played so far. It literally says F you to christianity, which was a bit off putting. Now the story was decent but it didn't really feel like an Outlast game to be honest, sure it had the same core mechanics with the player unable to fight back, but it was the cult like theme that really had my head scratching. This would've been better if they made more of a connection with the original, they do this with the comics but that should've been done before hand. But the graphic and uncensored nature of the game is what makes me extremely uncomfortable in a game, when they had the wife strapped to give birth to the 'AntiChrist' they show it publicity, and it's just geez man come on. The ending was also a major head scratcher and really depressing now that I think about it, more so now that i read the comic. So after the 'antichrist' is born the main protagonist child or daughter, he walks out to see the sun crashing down upon him and the world supposedly ending. But in reality it was all in the main character's mind, the child was fake, the wife died of miscarriage, the world didn't end, and he is taking a prisoner for Murkoffs experiments, that is ######### up and depressing. No wonder why this game was banned in Australia its just that graphic.

How it could work in DBD: Obviously I would want them to focus on the first one rather then the second one due to the fact that it wouldn't be a good idea business wise to include a dlc from a game that was banned from a country. Now out of all the characters I would want Richard Trager/The Surgeon as the killer. Now I know Chris Walker and Eddie Gluskin fit the role perfectly because they are sorta the main antagonists, but here's the problem, it is difficult to come up with a power for them. Like Chris Walker I would've thought a Pinball where he slams into things would've worked but we have Blight so that's a no go. Now for Eddie he is this sorta surgeon like guy, and a master craftsman sure but the problem is that he tries to make men into women, I don't see that working when facing female survivors, The Walrider would be an obvious pick but we already have killers like the Nurse and Spirit who fit the bill for what we are looking for without making it Op. Trager would be a good fit because he has a power that could be very unique that we haven't seen before and his power to perform surgeries on survivors fit his name at what he does in the game.

I have a more in depth overview on him being in dbd in an old post of mine. I think we need Outlast in DBD because it is in my eyes a landmark moment in the horror genre for being the most psychologically damaging in any of the horror games, I would even say Outlast is on level ground with Silent hill in terms of psychological horror. It amazes me we haven't gotten a Chapter yet and I hope in the future we do receive an Outlast chapter,
