Bugged Loop in Backwater Swamp?

I wish I was able to capture more than this screenshot, but I didn't know the button to take multiple... so I just hit Print Screen. I was playing Bubba in Blackwater Swamp, and a tree spawned right next to one of the barrels of this loop. The gap it presented was large enough for survivors to fit through, but if I wanted to follow, I was too big... so I had to run around the entire tree instead.

This made the loop literally infinite even at bloodlust 3 - the survivors in the game exploited it to heck, always coming back here for a chase.

This has to be a bug, right?
