DC Penalties need to return
I know I am probably preaching to the chior here, but the Devs seriously need to take another look at some way to bring penelties back. I didn't realise how much the penelties actually helped and how bad it was before, UNTIL, they were removed.
Just like before, every other game has at least one DC. Both killers and survivors. Killers will leave if a certain hex gets destroyed, survivors will leave if they get downed first. Choose any reason, there has been a DC because of it.
I recently just played a game against a killer (I bounce between playing as both), the killer downed me with Franklin's Demise, causing me to drop my item and then DCed immediately after. Just happened to be the first one they found, I suspect they would have done it to anyone else they found.
When playing as killer, if I happen to find a survivor quickly, they'll engage in a chase for a bit, then when I've hit them once, will stop dead and DC.
The stuff around "why DC penelties won't come back" in regards to streamers getting hacked and having their penelties put onto them (72 hours or something), whilst it sucks, there still needs to be something.
Have seen suggestions ranging from putting those with higher DC records together with each other, which with DbD not exactly being the most stable game, how would you qualify a legitimate DC over a straight up rage quit? Have also seen the suggestion of some sort of Bloodpoint penelty for DCing. Which whilst that might work with newer players, the ones who don't need Bloodpoints or just don't care about them... Well, they wouldn't care.
The timeout is easily the best solution for DC penelties. The algorithm needs to be looked at again to do three things: 1, deal out increasingly more time for DCing (which I think is what was happening anyways), 2, figure out a way from determining legitimate DC's over rage quitters and 3, make the game more secure so that hackers cannot simply transfer their allotted time penalty to someone else. That last one is the most blaringly obvious to me, because you shouldn't be able to have the penelty transferred in anyway in the first place. Its either you have it, or its removed.
If DC penelties were to return in the timeout format as well, then I believe it would also be worth investigating a way to incorperate the other two suggestions, those being paring other frequent DCer's together, as well as a Bloodpoint penelty. MORE incentive not to DC is good. No one is forcing you to play DbD. If you aren't enjoying it, just don't play.
