Redo killer adepts.

Recently I took a look at the global achievements and noticed something funny. I also looked my own achievements and noticed the same thing: There are at least four times as many unlocked survivor adepts as there are for killers. Now I don’t want to claim that one role is more fun than another (at least not here). Instead I just want to quickly look at the objective challenges and the intentions behind them.

Survivors:  The challenge is to escape with the 3 personal perks. Since the game is balanced for 2 survivors to escape each trial it should take mathematically speaking 2 games (or more if you end up with stuff like no mither) to get the adept. No matter whether rank 1 or 20. Should be rather easy and the numbers on Steam mirror that. On the other side however…

Killer: The challenge is to get e merciless victory. For that you “just” need to:

-Finish the trail with about 3 gens remaining.

-Kill ALL survivors with only 3 hook stages being skipped. (DC’s basically screws this emblem and thus the entire round).

-Hit Survivors at least 18 times. Want to chainsaw healthy survivors, want to lose this emblem?

-Chase survivors forever. Not even the wiki can describe how to exactly get this emblem but what is for sure is that chainsaws screw this emblem too.

So how is the average red rank killer supposed to get his adepts without having to down rank (which the devs are taking measures against as it makes the ordeal unfun for low ranks) or just having a ####### stroke while trying to play this at rank 1? Let’s just pay as a killer, hunting the adept.

We spawn in. We go and find a survivor. Since we are at rank 1 the survivor shouldn’t be braindead and since all pallets are still up it takes about one to two minutes to catch him (remember m1s only. Chainsaws screw your malicious) 3 gens have popped by now so your gatekeeper will just be gold tier at best. *Reset*

We spawn in and patrol all the gens (good luck) unless you’re some sort of super hag you will sodall in terms of gen-protection so good luck keeping 4 survivors at bay simultaneously. As expected you fail to protect all gens but you manage to get some nice chase and gatekeeper. Unfortunately, the last survivor escapes via gate. *Reset*

We spawn in and patrol all the gens. At two gens we slug (out of desperation), down all survivors (be mindful of unbreakable) and then sacrifice all of them. Iridescent chaser, iridescent gatekeeper but your devout and malicious are utter arse since you were too successful. *Go play Civ 6*

Every time we piped (or at least safetyed) but there were no merciless victories to be had. Why? Because the game isn’t balanced towards that. The emblem system was put in place so that all killers could use their individual strengths. So the killer emblems are virtually impossible to all ace against decent survivors (red ranks) and they are not meant to BY DESIGN.

How to fix this … I have no idea but that is not my job (suggestions in the comments are welcome).

But if comparing my paragraph for survivors and the one for killers the discrepancy of the achievement completion between surv. and killer makes a shocking amount of sense. I get the idea of hard achievements but please have them stay fair and consistent.

TL;DR: Adept killer is way harder than adept survivor and that upsets me.

I despise killer adept achievements; not only for myself, but for others going for them. Thankfully, I just got my last one (Blight) yesterday. Until the next killer comes out...

A 4k with three unique perks can be bad enough on its own; but throw in the complexity that is the emblem system, and you can all but lose hope. I can't tell you how upset I was to lose mine as Blight yesterday because someone wanted to hide rather than unhook the other remaining survivor in a gen lock situation (one gen left to do with three closely situated generators). After closing the hatch, the two gates were too far/hidden from view to manage, and the last survivor opened the gate and got out.

I lose my killer adept achievement... to that?

I spent seven hours trying to do Plague’s Adept yesterday when I literally finished Demo and Legion’s adepts in one try AND on Midwich.
