Why is there no surrender vote already?
I am a survivor main who has had the game since near launch in 2016, and I frequently get DC issues. I understand the devs have many things going on and they are striving to fix DC issues, but today this all came to a head for me while I was solo queueing as killer. While I was playing killer, I had two matches in a row where a survivor DC'd before the first chase even began. As a survivor main, I felt the pain of the other people stuck in those lobbies, and I let them live (to the detriment of my own rank progression). This is ridiculous, and a mechanic (somewhat) adapted from League of Legends could easily fix this issue.
My suggestion to the devs is a simple Surrender Vote. It's idea is simple: if there is a unanimous decision that the game is lost, everyone can agree to skip the match and go to their next game without being extremely tilted. This could be built on more, however I think a great idea is this: If a survivor disconnects before a single other survivor has died, a surrender vote automatically pops up on everyone's screen (in the corner so as to not be distracting). The vote has to be a unanimous "Yes" (even from the killer) for the game to end. This would prevent situations where the killer simply downs everyone, and the survivors FF at the start when someone DC's because the killer must also agree to it. Additionally, everyone that FF's will not gain or lose rank progress. Instead, they keep all their current BP from the match and escape (maybe even bonus BP for escaping and killers get bonus BP for "no survivors escaped" as an incentive to end unwinnable games).
This system wouldn't take much to implement, and would severely reduce the toxicity in some situations where a single survivor makes the game unfun for everyone. Of course, this system could be built upon much further, but this would be a good start for such an implementation. As someone who almost exclusively solo queues in this game, it is very disappointing to have games where I must hunt for hatch because I know we can't all escape, or even have to let survivors go out of pity because I would just feel ######### afterwards if I didn't do that. To anyone that made it this far in my rant, feel free to leave suggestions to build on this/critique it below! And if a dev has made it this far in my rambling, please do consider bringing this to the rest of the development team as a serious issue. I have been playing DbD since 2016, and I really do want to see the toxicity in this game come under control. Thank you all for your time, and I hope you all enjoyed my first community forums post.
