Why do some content creators encourage toxic gameplay?

There are content creators that actually encourage bad gameplay mechanics such as:

  • Teabagging baby killers.
  • Post-game chat toxicity.
  • Tunneling certain survivors.
  • Running The Perks (DS + Unbreakable, NOED + Hex: Undying, you know) and them complaining about the enemies running them.

I know most of us in the community (especially here in the forums) aren't very impresionable or young, but there is a part of the community which is younger and more influentiable, and tend to imitate these behaviour. For example, my younger sibling sometimes uses my PC to play and the other day I had to explain to him teabagging is toxic and that insulting people in the post-game chat accomplishes nothing.

For me, the most important issue is that these people are making money out of improving these kind of tactics and it pisses me quite a bit.

    Personally I agree.

I mean, they aren't toxic, but they completely overexagerate a buff that is already powerful. DS on its own is fine since it has decent counterplay, but combining it with Unbreakable makes it have objectivelly no counterplay.

Lol to the noed + undying. Remove the undying and chances are nobody would do enough bones anyways. Waste of a perk imo.

I want to point out that perks are not toxic, they are part of the game and people can use them as much as they want.

You might not like some of them, but there's nothing wrong with running perks.

honestly I would say it's because it gets them viewers. People love watching hair pulling, name calling, drama laiden fights on reality TV and content creators know that and take advantage of that. they are there to promote themselves, not fair play or wholesome behavior. I personally just don't watch that kind of creator and don't let my son watch them either.

First of all, DbD does have a maturity rating in game, and as you are specifically speaking about Twitch which has a minimum age rating of 13 and most DbD Content Creators have a maturity filter applied to their channels so that users need to be 18 plus before they view the stream - that's something that's a parental responsibility not one for Content Creators or BHVR.

Post game chat toxicity - I thoroughly advise anyone who's been racist/homophobic etc in post game chat, to be reported by other players so that our ACM's can effectively deal with them

Tunneling Survivors - this happens, and as a Killer it sometimes makes perfect sense to do so, especially when you need to put pressure on the team in some way, same as slugging. And none of these are toxic, they are part of the game and there's perks the survivors can use to help counter this playstyle as well as team mates helping by taking hits etc

Running Perks - none of this is toxic. These perks are in the game and are meant to be used.

TLDR None of what you have said is particularly toxic behaviour, and Content Creators are responsible for their channels but fall under the same game rules as everyone else. And Twich/DbD has an age rating for a reason!
