I feel scammed
I haven't had any time to do the archives this month, and I'm only on page 4/9. since it's the last day of the event, I decided to put 400 auric cells so I can at least be on tier 9 of the rewards page.
at least, that's what I expected to happen. for some reason, 400 auric cells will only give you 4 rewards, not 4 entire tiers. Not very clear at all.
I was going to skip out on the next rift event anyways (crossplay killed the game; killer queue has never bene longer, and playing survivors is like playing with 2 bots every match) but this makes me not want to spend any more money on another pass.

What wasn't clear about it all? Each level of the Rift is referred to as a Tier, and has been since the introduction of the Archives. This seems like a case of consumer misunderstanding.

it was always my understanding that each "page" was considered a tier. Myers getting 10% evil within isn't counted as it's own tier.

It is pretty poorly worded
Either that or I'm just as dum as I thought the same exact thing when I first bought the rift (I had started playing the game in the middle of a Rift thingy and didn't really think about the time remaining I had).
After re-reading it a few times, I understood what it was talking about but at first glance, I thought the same exact thing (unlocks a full page, not just A single item)

Crossplay didn't kill the game, it gave everyone better queue times, lmfao.
2 -
No, but Myers levelling up is counted as a tier, which each level of the rift is. Each page is there just because you can't fit 70 tiers onto a single screen.

it made queue time worse when playing killer, it made queue times way better for survivor but there's no point in playing survivor if half your team mates are useless, and the vast majority of consoles are.
Console players are not equipped for PC metas. The controller is objectively a worse method of input than a keyboard and mouse, and all consoles have lesser hardware when compared to basically any medium end gaming pc.

Where did you get "the vast majority of consoles are", you do realize it's the player, not the platform right?
2 -
the point is the wording is bad. I don't even think you fully understood my metaphor, as the point was that individual rewards are too small of an increment to be called a "tier"

I agree the wording could 100% be better, but like I said this seems like a case of genuine consumer misconception

console players*

Where did you get this information? The only advantage PC survivors have is stretched res and more settings.
0 -
Exactly, consumer misconception, because the terminology used feels intentionally vague, misleading the consumer.

You didn’t clue in when the number of tiers exceeded the actual number of pages?!

pc players have keyboard and mouse and superior hardware, as mentioned in the original comment.
A keyboard and mouse gives the player much more precision over a controller, and better hardware = higher FPS = better reaction time capability

The game makes it pretty clear what the term 'tier' means, in my opinion.
7 -
None of that matters in a casual dbd game, this game is balanced around casual players, and isn't a super competitive game, so having slightly faster reaction time doesn't matter, you can still loop well.
0 -
The game is not balanced around casual gameplay at all. if you play killer and you're even a centimeter away from an object you're looping around instead of hugging it properly, you could end up getting looped longer than you should have.
When I'm playing killer and I want to make a survivor think they're good at looping so they can escape, I just tap the a or d key every so often and I would never catch up until bloodlust 2

If this game wasn't balanced around casual play, they would balance the game around tourney squads, which is high level play.

The wording isnt poor. Its really hard to misunderstand how you did.
4 -
But it does give you 4 entire tiers, you must've mistaken pages to be tiers.
You didn't get scammed, you just thought something was one way when it wasn't.
And idk about clarity, but pages on the Rift are called pages, and tiers are called tiers at multiple locations besides the Rift itself, like when you actually buy the tiers, or on the Archives pop-up menu on the right during lobbies.

A single dollar for an entire page of rewards? That makes no sense. A single skin costs $11-15
1 -
That sucks for you, but I think it's pretty clear. No reason to feel scammed.

Keyword: Feel
dbd cosmetics in general can be pretty overpriced, like that "legendary" cosmetic set that came out with the silent hill DLC costing almost as much as the game itself

You just made 2 mistakes:
- Misunderstanding between tier and page
- Keep buying tier after buying the first one
1 -
@FlamingkittyUmad I think most people understand what a tier is. The wording is fine. Multiple games with a battle pass style rewards system use the word tier for each level. A page is a page. Common sense should tell you 400 ac isn't buying 4 pages of stuff. Sucks you misunderstood but now you know.
1 -
Sorry that happened but it seems clear cut to me. You went for the lazy whale option.
1 -
I can't help you out with your feelings.
Like the legendary cosmetic: I agree the pricing is overboard, but they tell you the price.
I can't call that a scam, nor do i feel scammed.

Controllers have nothing to do with inputs in this game, get off your PC master race high horse, this isn't an FPS. The real reason console players have gone down in skill is because DBD got added to Xbox game pass, so a bunch of little kids and people who barely play games are able to play DBD for "free" now, which has lowered the overall skill gap.

1 level = 1 tier. There's nowhere to suggest that a page, which have varying numbers of levels, is a tier. That was your assumption.
However, $10 for 10 levels is a ######### ripoff.
1 -
Sorry, but I think the game makes it clear what a tier is. Whether it's good value or not is an entirely separate discussion, but this was 100% just a case of you not paying attention.
