Well, yes you can improve and it's not the doing of the ranking system. You've only played since May so I wouldn't expect you to be as good as 2000+ hour players who have been playing the game since release. It honestly just sounds like you're setting these extremely high expectations on yourself for no reason. I also have ~600 hours and have been consistently rank 1 for both survivor and killer for months. Just keep playing the game and you will get better with experience. You even said "I am having more fun in the game as my knowledge and skills improve.", which only happens if you keep playing.

P.S.: The red ranks (especially survivor red ranks) don't really indicate how good the player is. For survivors especially, being red rank means they've just put in heaps of time to play heaps of games since the last reset. It's extremely easy as survivor to get rank 1.

My tips would be to always look behind you to see what the killer is doing. If, like you say, the killer predicts your pathing and cuts you off, why not run the opposite direction? Make sure to always keep tabs on the killer's pathing and what they are doing. Some loops are always going to be a 50/50 mind-game and that just comes down to pure guess work.

But watch YouTube videos on how to loop tiles if you don't have anyone to practice with in a KYF.

I understand the frustration of facing way superior players, it can be overwhelming, but at the same time that's how you really improve; if you only face players you destroy every single time or as you suggested an AI that can be easily read and exploited, how can you get better?

If you really want to improve your gameplay, forget about ranks (there are good and bad players at any rank), watch better players, mimic and try to do what they do to outplay their opponents, put it into practice in those games you are currently playing, don't expect the game to become easier for you, because that's not how you get better.

Also another advice would be to play both sides, equally and consistently, try to see what the opponent sees and learn to take advantage of your knowledge.

Oh don't worry, mine was an exaggeration to explain my point.

Just keep in mind you can learn from better players, that's what I was trying to explain with my post, there are people with thousands of hours that still have issues with loops from both sides, it happens, we all learn at a different pace.
