Whilst I do agree that toxicity is caused by both sides. I do not agree with blaming the devs for said toxicity. Yes they have given the tools, but they were given with pure intentions. The players if the game have taken simple objects and attached a negative connotation to them.

Flashlights, for example, are used to help others and to strengthen your chance of escaping a chase. A group decided that flashlights can be more than that.

Killers will sometimes take advantage of newer players or something survivors can not fight back against. Face camping is a good example. If survivors aren't equipped with the right tools, their friend is as good as dead.

We cannot blame the Devs for something we, as a community, promoted and still do.

How can any reasonable person watch that video and come to the exact opposite understanding of what was discussed?

On that note, cut the tribalism crap. People on both sides are toxic, because there are always those who will take advantage of fun-ruining game mechanics to be rude on the internet. Get over it. And maybe next time try submitting discussions that aren't so... low effort.

It's important to remember that while there are bad sports out there, don't let them ruin it for the good sports. The toxicity can get to you for sure. I've had moments where I just want to quit playing killer altogether. I've almost got all my perks unlocked on one survivor, so BP isn't as pressing of a need for me. But I do enjoy playing killer when I get survivors who act like they're older than 12.

Both sides contribute, though. I think we could all be a little nicer to one another. As killer, that doesn't mean you have to forego the 4K or play in any specific way. And as survivor it doesn't mean foregoing the escape or not bringing certain perks. But show a bit of humility, and maybe a little bit of kindness. Doesn't hurt anyone. I'd hope everyone who plays this game is mature enough for that, but it's the internet and some people like using the anonymity to bully people because they can. Probably because they lead sad, miserable lives.

@ABannedCat summed it up perfectly, IDK why the devs just don't do anything to make the sides less toxic. They could literally remove the clicking sound effect from flashlights and they'd become much less toxic and annoying.

Also, I think another big part of this games toxicity comes from certain toxic streamers and content creators. Sure, most of the toxic ones have died off but they're still most certainly here. They promote toxicity as though it's a fine thing to do.

Imo three reasons do their best to make the dbd community toxic:

-The problems the player have and bring in the game. Especially if they can't get rid of it in the game, because they have lost a match before or couldn't achieve their own goals.

    -Some streamers.

-Nerfs. I am guilty of that too. The only day where I have play on purpose toxic, was after a specific nerf patch, who I am still mad about. Patches like that can really change your view on the game and the community itself.

And yes, I have on purpose not lead "other toxic players" in the field, because no matter how toxic someone is - it is the decision of the player if he turns toxic just because some 13 year old teabags at the gates, or whatever nonsense.

I have just try to name the things that I think are the root for this behavior in the game.
