This is getting really bad.
I'm not the best killer out there Rank 16. but with the matchmaking I'm being thrown up against rank 1's rank 4 and 5s' and maybe one rank below 10.
Of course it's going to be a bad game when I'm hugely outmatched.
And in the game I just played, I know I hit the same person twice and they didn't go down and I mean within a few seconds.
another case of survivor swat teams strikes again.

If they're all red and you aren't playing a meta killer and perks, then it'll seem like they're a hit-squad. They probably aren't.
Still, it is really annoying. Just keep at it and play for fun, or play some survivor for a bit.

If you're queueing at rank 16, the chances you are going against a survivor swat is really low..

"Wannabe Comp Squads" are far more common then most people think and given how the ranks were spread out its nearly 100% a "Wannabe Comp Squad" looking for an easy game.
Mind you match making can make weird looking matches as I have been solo que in a game as the only player above rank 16 but that 1/4/5/10 split is a tell tale sign of SWF group trying to game matchmaking to smurf.

Could be, It's just annoying. I know that in order to get better you have to have challenge to overcome but it didn't even feel like a game when I didn't see anyone no matter what I did

The rank pairing system is all messed up right now. Best bet is to try and learn from mistakes. Rank doesn't mean much so play what you enjoy if you are trying to have fun. If you are trying to rank up then you need to play a meta killer. Nurse, spirit, hag, and oni. Ones that can apply pressure and have map control. Also try to avoid weekend nights because thats typically when you see the best players or get the most red ranks as a lower rank killer in your games.

I'm not trying to rank up just get blood points. to level up killers and unlock perks. that's all. I'm doing this so I can get a better understanding of both sides of the game.

I do the same. High rank survivor, low rank killer (16 too)... the amount of messed up match making I get is insane. Makes it really unenjoyable. I also love rank 18s running DS, BT, UB, and some other perk... doesn't make me want to play killer. It is really hard to learn the basics of being killer.

I’ve had it recently where I’ve been rank one with rank 9’s and 10’s while solo queueing. Also as a rank one killer I occasionally every few rounds go against a group of rank 9’s.
it’s messed up

very much so. I've had to some good games as killer but those are few and far between every survivor is running similar perks. DS BT and UE or UB.

if it is that common, most people that think it isn't should face them more... commonly, right? Well, I don't. The more regular thing I see is that I get matched with people in solo that totally not match my rank

@Ryan489x I feel ya brother. Made a similar topic on it because I was thrown and curious too. As everyone's said, matchmaking is busted to hades and back. Try and use it as a learning tool and as a guilt free way to change the games objective. Ya know you're gonna get dunked, but ya can still have fun with it. Turn a match into a king of the hill slugfest by hooking a survivor up there and planting your flag, see how far you can make one run before they catch on to ya, try and get everyone in the basement, play house with a survivor, try and get as many pallets as ya can and beat your high score. :p And who knows, when ya change the objective opportunities may come knocking if you throw them for enough of a loop. : )

I'm Rank 8 - I've noticed I'm *almost always* going up against Rank Red survivors. And for the last several days, every, single, match has been instant queue for killer, at least on PC.
I have a theory that there's a Red Rank Killer shortage vs. Red Rank Survivor shortage... with lots of higher ranks sitting in queue, waiting for a killer to play against. After awhile, the matchmaking loosens the restrictions so they get a game. If your Rank 16 and got matched against Red Rank survivors, I suspect they were waiting a very long time for a match. Either that or their system is completely broken.

Yes the ranking system is really not working perfectly fine all the time, but they are right now working on the MMR System and collecting Data in the background.
I must add that not every team that is running Borrowed time is a "swat team". In fact its actually extremly unlikely that you every played against a team like that so far.

I'd like to contest this. It depends on the time of day you play. For example with me (rank 1 killer, UK), if I queue during the day killer queues are eternal and I get instant survivor queues. If I queue up after, like, 9:30 (rank 3-1 survivor, depending on how good my teammates have been recently), then killer queues are the speed of sound and survivor queues, well I could be playing Pokemon Shield and hunt a shiny before I find a game.
It all depends on the time of day you queue, not necessarily a shortage.

I'm looking forward to the MMR. I know rank supposedly doesn't mean anything, but, when I get destroyed in a killer game and then get to the end screen and see I'm rank 9 and everyone else is rank 2, it feels like the odds were stacked against me.
I think part of the problem is that red ranks captures such a wide group of players, especially on the survivor side, and the system doesn't differentiate between people like me (so-so at chase, so-so at hiding, but played enough during the rift to rank up anyway) and people who make their living streaming DBD eight hours a day. We are the same in the eyes of the current ranking and matchmaking system.
So, I'm excited to see what the new system does.

My very first game as a killer was against 2 red rank, a green, and a purple rank.
The matchmaking has always sucked - but as we learned with MMR... it can be much, much worse.

I suspect Region and/or Platform do factor in so your mileage may very. I'm on PC, with cross-play enabled and I'm in NA.

I'm also PC with cross-play enabled, only in EU.

this is what I mean about getting bad. all but one person was on console. the second pic is just to show the builds I dealt with. the first is for levels I was put up against yesterday.

Makes you wonder this game has a rank system.

I found the easiest way is to get at least one perk that lets you find someone. I honestly did most of my ranking from 20 to 5 with hag and legion with a little bit of pyramid head. Hag is great as long as you can get them to hit your traps and legion has the perk to let you see when 2 or more survivors are on a gen. Now you could also get doctor and use him to help you find survivors with his abilities. If you don't have leatherface get him. Get him leveled enough to get bbq and chili teachable. The good thing is he is cheap. If you are on pc use cdkeys because they have the dlc cheaper than steam even when steam runs a sale.

I recommend you edit out the names as that screen shot counts as naming and shaming.

There is a way to report them for death threats. on the final end screnn the "scoreboard" as you will, you can click on the right side of the player and it'll bring up a report feature. this feature will allow you to give a thumbs up to someone as well as report trolling, harrassment (death threats) or unsportsmanlike conduct. you can if they are on the same platform get their information but even if not same platform just get what you can and start a ticket in the help and tutorial section of the game and if you have additional information to give you can give it there.

Seriously though, I could post one such screenshot for every other killer game I have. For whatever reason, people playing survivors tend to believe that I - the player playing the killer - am as evil or horrific a person as the character I played.
I would seriously take a very hard stance on conduct like this. At the end of the day, this is a game and when I see someone wish I died at the end of the match, that tells me they were not playing a game.
Even more ironic is the fact, that without those much hated killers, the game would not exist, so I am actually doing them a service by queuing up as a killer instead of a survivor.
Same really goes for killers who decide to go toxic just because they had an easy or hard match.. inexcusable. Being in the heat of the moment does not cut it. This is exactly why we cannot have nice things - like chat - in the world, because the moment someone does something good, a few sour people will come by and ruin it for everyone else.

Welcome to BHVR's functional matchmaking system where nothing matters.

Please report them. You could also close the chatbox by pressing those two arrows in the lower right of the chatbox itself.

You can report them ingame or also report them on the official website using the report page. To report them ingame just click on the thumbs up/down icon next to their name on the endgame score screen, select the icon in the popup screen for harassment (it looks like a speech bubble 🗯) and type in the complaint.
