Having trouble finding survivors

So, I'm new to the game and I enjoy playing as killet, but I struggle to find survivors sometimes. I started running Doctor + Whispers and that alleviated my issue, but now when I go to other killers, I lose the static blast which helps so much.

I do patrol gens with whispers and it works okay. Any general strategies for non-Doctor would be helpful.

Also I am colorblind so I do struggle to see scratch marks sometimes so that an issue, too.

TIA!

There is a guide for using whispers better, I would also say it is a good tracking perk for all killers. Whispers is awesome IMO as a tracking perk but BBQ and chili is chosen for a more accurate visual of where survivors are and gives double BP if you hook every one at least once. However, whispers is a very good perk for keeping the pressure on survivors and is a very solid choice.

For finding survivors , pay attention to crows and blood if you can. If you see some crows fly back to their original position. I am pretty sure that the crows take 15 seconds to come back after being disturbed by the killer or the survivor. If crows were disturbed by another player, you know that they are right around where the crows were just disturbed and fly away.

When the match starts the surivors nearly always spawn at the furthest gen from your spawn location. So turn around and go across the map to find someone quickly. Sometimes you get a god spawn near you but I always check the 2 gens on the opposite side of the map which works fine.

After that you can either snowball or if you can't find them mid match think what you would do playing survivor and go there. You'll get better after every game, learn from mistakes. I've started recording and watching my own gameplay has helped a lot. I can see what I should have done to prevent those mistakes. Or I notice a hiding survivor I missed...

Have you tried stridor? If the scratchmarks fail you your ears will not. The breathing is extremely loud when you get used to it there is no hiding. The only killer I never use stridor on is legion, they all breath similarly to the survivors which gets me confused.

Stridor sounds interesting! I don't see it mentioned too often so ill check it out. So does it have it to be T3 for me to hear regular breathing at 25%? What's the range on it?

I do hear more about Hex: Undying since it transfers to dull totems but dont have many hex reachable yet.

Tier 3 is the best: grunts of pain are 50% louder and regular breathing is 25% louder. Tier 1 and 2 doesn't increase the regular breathing only grunts of pain. Stridor doesn't have a reach it increases the volume so you will hear breathing/ grunts of pain easier. I guess you will hear them from 25% (healthy) or 50% (injured) further away but I was never a math genius.

Stridor also counters iron will since you still get 50% grunts of pain audio instead of the 0% iron will normally gives.

Just an update! Will work to get Stridor but have experimented with Shape and Stalk. Helps me spot survivors from a distance and I saw an interesting build with infectious fright which I may work to this weekend.

I am using the crows more and shooting for opposite gens so that's helping more, even without Whispers/SB
