Disconnection error on console gave me penalty

I had a game error due to my console this evening (Uk, ps4, 10.30pm) and got a penalty from something that was out of my power. Now while I understand why the penalty is in place due to rage quitters but is there a way if at all possible that something can be done to prevent it to happening to people who get Dcd for something that wasn't their fault? I adore this game and this is the first time I've had this issue, I am more curious than anything else
