MMR and Ranks

I’m nowhere near a top most tier player on either side, as players who have 3000-4000+ hours in DBD.
I can certainly hold my own, for the most part.
So I don’t intend any of this in a derogatory manner toward anyone.
Has MMR returned?
It was hideous matchmaking last time around, and lately I’ve been consistently de-pipping in matches with a mixture of various green and purple ranks, some yellow.
No other red rank survivors in a match against rank 1 & 2 killers.
Say what you will about “Ranks don’t Matter” but I can tell the purple/green/yellow ranks I’ve been consistently matched with do not have a degree of experience to even complete 1-2 gens in a match before killer gets themselves 4-5+ hooks and a sacrifice.
No one cleanses totems.
No one can avoid BBq.
Most are immediate double taps.
It’s constant hook babysitting to rescue these “instadown instahooks”
It sounds mean, that’s not my intention... and I admit, it’s quite off putting, but I don’t know how else to voice this.
The only way I can progress the match is to extensively loop the killer, or at least try to broaden the chase just so we can get something going.
3-4 gen loop every match isn’t my preferred playstyle.
Majority of red ranks I’ve played with at least have a similar in-game mentality that’s like a unwritten code of playstyle amongst experienced survivors.
Rank 7,8,9,10,11,12,13 etc. seem to be on another usually lesser skill set.
The ranks don’t matter argument hasn’t been convincing. The evidence I’ve been given leans heavily toward high purple and red ranks having more experience, and genuinely playing better in the matches I’ve been in with them than the greens, yellows, low purple, white. (again, PS4 player sans crossplay, not sure how PC is)
Also, why the consistent Red rank 1-2 killer matched up against 3 purple/green survivors and my red rank (now rank 3 due to 6 consecutive horrendous neg pip matches)?
Last MMR was similar, only there were whites and yellows frequently in the mix which made it even more of an impossibility to thoroughly enjoy the match.
You cannot legitimately tell me that’s a justifiable skill set comparison to somewhat experienced or heavily experienced or veteran players of this game.
How much wholesome truth is there to substantiate the MMR argument against ranks holding no relevance whatsoever?
I’d like to understand different players perspectives on this, thanks for the insight.
EDIT: these mismatched lobbys are usually occurring between 7PM and 4AM also, so what exactly might that infer?

Pretty sure MMR has been running in the backround, but it isn't on right now, or else you would get an official statement from the devs.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure if they had reinstated MMR and I just missed it or sth.
