What would make generators less boring to do?
I mean a simple addition to generators other than skill checks since generators are pretty boring to fix.
So it seems like most people agree that generators should require survivors to go around the map to find items to continue fixing the generators. Meaning survivors could kind of use a secondary objective.

More skillchecks

Actually, lol that would help them be more interactive.

If they were as boring as some people claimed the game would have died long ago.
There is more to fixing a gen than just watching a progress bar. You pay attention to what is happening around you. Learn how good your team mates are in chases, try to work out the killers perks, etc.
Honestly, if they made fixing gens more complicated then that is when it would start to get boring.

Seriously tho it would be cool if you had to look for spare parts across the map to repair them.

Make generators take longer to complete

Something I've always thought of is you have 4 separate buttons you bind a skill check to. They cannot be the same button. Each time a skill check appears there's a 25% chance of it being any of those 4 buttons.
Also another change to skilchecks: each second there's a 1% chance of getting a check. For each second you continue on the action the chance increases by 5% until you hit 100%. Missing a skill check resets it to 1%, hitting it removes 25% of the chance.
Accidentally buff Autodidact doing this too.

You should have to chase after it. HOW DO YOU LIKE BEEN LOOPED SURVIVORS!

Like typic XBOX or PS minigames? that sounds cool.

They could implement unique dance animations for Survivors and require them to dance in order to power up the generator. Pushing different keys would make them do different dance moves and chaining together the moves in a stylish order could cause the progress to quicken.
Thats all I got from the top of my head.

Yeah, similar to quick time events like in Until Dawn or Man of Medan

Add more "Generators" including "Gens" that fit into the map design. There could be so much more to fix as generators. Pipes with Valves, power boxes, battery's, windmill's, solar power and different types and models. Different element's could have slightly different mini-games. Things to repair could be integrated into the map design.
There is no reason it HAS to be a generator. That's just all that DBD has ... it's boring by design because devs didn't think of more. How about an capture the flag element where you have to transport an item from A to B without the killer noticing you? Some killers come with new mechanics but the core game is stale.

The reason the game hasn't died is because the chase exists and that's the fun part, not because gens have merit. If gens weren't boring as people said, they wouldn't be complained about every other week.

The gens are boring. At least make it so we have to find pats to it before it can be repaired. Sitting on a static objective for 80 seconds (or 400 for all 5) is not fun or engaging in the slightest.

Imaging Survivor has to collect an actual "Tools box" from every closet, locker, desk all around the map, carry 8 charges. Allow to do 8 random tasks (various but simple like Among us). Then have to gather more "Tools box" to continue.
Im just talking about the Fun on objective, not about balance.
Edit: Here is balance: Each Gen has 40 charges, Killer kicks on Gen cause 2 charge lost and continue to lost 1 charge every 15sec.

Imo would put a limit progression on gens!
For example
Every 25% progression a gen reaches the gen overheats, and survivors need to find oil and pour it into the gen to cool the generator off and progress to the next 25 percentage!

A minigame.

This is the main idea of the game. If you find it boring, feel free to test other games...

I still love this game and I do play other games, I just think it would be cool if generators weren't super stale.

Maybe, this sounds like an interesting idea. However, it seems a bit tedious doesn't it? Also, what if you are playing with baby survivors?

Seems cool, but there would definitely have to be some thought put into this.

If they wanna stick with just skill checks, we should get different variations of skill checks.
I wanted reverse to be one, but maybe it should stay doctor exclusive.
Slower skill checks, faster skill checks, straight line skill checks, idk square skill checks.
Double skill checks (hit two times) , skill checks to press and hold.
Just some kind of variation, please.

Just something simple like this would make generators a bit more skillful and less boring to work on. I feel like this could be revised upon though.

The Friday The 13th Game tried having some of these ideas and I'm not sure how that panned out. I don't know if I like the simplicity of DbD or if there should be "more" to it. I know that I have fun on both sides but for completely different reasons.

survivors should need to search for gloves or instructions around the map to actually be able to start work on a gen. After they get that item, gens work just like they do now. No multiple items to search and come back cuz then gens would never be repaired. Specially with S tier killers with sweaty builds
