I think if the killer insists on a 4k, then he should slug one survivor and get the other one. If not, just let the last one go, it's not that big of a deal.

This exactly. If you want a 4k, don't let the hatch open in the first place. If it does and the guy gets to it, just let him go you will still pip, probably 2 pip. It's being greedy at that point.

Why is the Killer the one being greedy? The Survivor could also just take the loss instead of going for a safety net.

See what I mean, OP? Arguments go both ways.

You actually wanna say 3 kills is " a lot" and is same as dying as survivor?
    Funny guy you are :D

For the game to reach that stage, the Survivor team must've played poorly compared to the Killer, so why should the one fortunate enough to be the last man standing be rewarded for their failure? I don't see you advocating for a built-in insta-kill on the last Survivor if 3/4 of them have escaped.

    Lol.

Perhaps you haven't seen the new perk that rewards Killers for failing????

You mean the perk that rewards Killers for letting their Obsession live, like most other Killer Obsession perks?

I think it's fine the way it is . If or when the killer can close the hatch it could lead to a survivor being stealthy for 20-30 minutes. When I play killer I give them the hatch so I can get the next game going (they do get a slap on the way out though)

In my experience this is how most hatch standoff’s happen. The killer fails and still wants their kill. If a survivor loses me or makes it to the hatch before me, it’s theirs. You’re never going to win at the hatch, so don’t be bitter about it.

Is it greedy for killer to want 4k, no. Is it unfair for last survivor to have a chance to escape, no. The problem is the hatch should not even create a situation like this to begin with. The problem killers have is that if they want to defend the hatch( without insta downs) they must wait for the prompt. Prior action almost guarantee the survivor a escape at the hatch.

You can call killers greedy, but can you say it was fun if you have to give up at the end to prevent the stalemate?

As a killer main I see it as the killer being bitter if they hold the game hostage at the hatch. Yeah, the hatch mechanics in their current form suck, but they’re part of the game. As killer if you want a 4k, kill the survivors before two gens pop. If you don’t, try to set it up so the last survivor doesn’t get hatch. If you fail at that, then the survivor has earned the escape.

I literally just got done with a match where Billy left the third survivor as bait and any time I went near to heal, he came back looking for me. This is what I mean by setting it up so the last survivor can’t get hatch. But he failed, and got tired of looking, so he hooked the third guy, right by the hatch. I didn’t know it was right by the hatch at the time, but Billy just camped right there hardcore, so I knew.

So I ended up sitting in his terror radius for a couple minutes and then went and did a gen, leaving one left. As soon as it popped he came over, tried to chainsaw me, missed, and I ran to the hatch. He came over and stood there shaking his head. What proceeded was a 15 minute or so hatch “standoff”. As a survivor, there was nothing else I could do. The other three died leaving 2 gens remaining. I did a gen, but Billy was right on me afterwards. If it weren’t for the hatch, he’d have just caught up to me and downed me and killed me.

As it pertains to the hatch, yes. The killer failed to secure it.

Everyone here has their own opinions on what is a win in this game. You can say a pip is a win, or a 4k is a win. I don't know why you guys argue about what is a win when it is already an opinion it self. If you think you won the game than you won. No one is telling you "hey even though you 3k you still didn't kill me that means you lost/win". It is how you view the game not how others view the game..

I just do the jump in as survivor. If they grab me gg. If they dont gg. As killer it depends on the game and if a survivor was toxic or not. Waste of valuable play time.

No one is wrong. It's a design flaw and shouldn't happen in the first place. They are working on a way to eliminate the hatch standoff but haven't come up with anything concrete that they are putting in yet. Currently just testing with different ideas.

In the current state of the game if a team doesn't get more than 1 gen then they are playing terribly or playing vs Nurse. So in an average game where no one is playing terribly there will almost always be an open hatch. Then it just becomes a ticking clock for the killer to find the survivor before they find the hatch. Once they find the hatch it's up to the survivor how long the game is played out. They said something about letting both the killer and the survivor see each other once everyone else died and enough gens were done. Then, after a certain amount of time the exit gates would just open. I love this idea. Allows the killer to have some time to actually kill the survivor and it becomes a skill check for the survivor. Bad survivors who don't know how to juke/loop/etc won't be able to just free escape.

I have to say that for killer to win Everyone must die. That's how I see it. It's a killer v survivor game. 1 survivor escapes the killer has lost.
Maybe I'm just setting the bar high.
Isn't it how it's supposed to be. Should be only 1 winner.
I guess it's the games balance coming into question again.

This is the exact problem with the people that play this game.

Killers think they NEED to kill to win. Survivors think they NEED to escape to win. No a pip is a win in this game. You can die and still pip as survivor just like you can not kill anyone and still pip as killer.

Players need to accept that some survivors die, some survivors escape.

Very simple. You have no right or business to tell anyone what they need to accept and what they should consider a win. The arrogance that you have been demonstrating is flat out said. There is no specific win criteria in this game, and it is up to each individual player to determine if they win or not. I am so sick of self important asses telling people who they should play or what they should do or accept. Get over yourself.

    Both.
The game can certainly end, but neither accept defeat until someone finally does.

I find the Hatch mechanic an absolutely stupid addition since it has this flaw since he start and no changes have been made so far.
I just gun it for the Hatch as Survivor and i just slap Survivors who are at the Hatch: They'd only give me a small 1000 BP anyway if i do get them, and rank is more useless than Monstrous Shrine, so idc about that either.

No. There is no opinion. A win in DBD is defined by a pip. Depip is a loss. Safety pip is tie. Double pip is like a flawless victory. There are no other win conditions. Killing and escaping are not wins. Your personal goals do not count as actual wins according the end results screen.

Your personal goals are not what defines a win. Not saying you can't have them and play how you want, what I'm saying is if you don't pip you didn't win. Period.

I never said to anyone who they should play or what they should do. I'm telling the people that are tilted by hatch standoff to just hit the guy and let them go because at that point you SHOULD have already won the game, and waiting around to kill him or not won't make a difference. And if you REALLY want that kill for your PERSONAL win, go ahead, but don't sit here and ######### about how someone is holding your game hostage by standing on the hatch.

I can kick the ball into my own goal and call it a win, but that's not how a game works. Your imaginary win conditions should not dictate game design. A pip is a win in DBD, nothing else can be defined as a win. If you want to play by your own win conditions don't complain about the game not catering to you.
