Spacebar Toggle When?

I've been saying it on the Steam forums since launch and I'm saying it now:
When will fighting the Entity have an option between mashing the spacebar and just holding it?
I mean, it's not like it's a difficult skill-gate that weeds out slower players. You only ever die early if the game does not read a spacebar input, or your hand gets tired. Altering it won't be unfair for the killers, since 90% of all hook deaths are either 3rd hook or 'screw it, I don't want to mash'.
It's just an annoying choice by the devs that kills keyboards.

Hell, if you stream like I sometimes do, all you can hear when I'm hooked is clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick nonstop, which ain't fun to listen too.

tl;dr:
Spacebar mashing is useless, not fun, not immersive, and lowers the lifetime of keyboards. Let us toggle an option from 'mash' to 'hold'.

I stream and I only tap about twice per second (the bare minimum). Maybe there are a lot of clicks, but I overpower the noise with my sexy voice.

That does not really remove my argument for adding a 'hold spacebar to struggle' toggle option. :)

True, I'm just pointing out that even while streaming it's no big deal, and you don't need to press it like you're about to die. Furthermore, the purpose of the space bar is to stress you out, since you're about to die, and it works just fine in that regard.

Fair enough but I know I and my friends would love to not kill our mechanical keyboards by playing DbDL. I have to limit how often I stream it on my multiplayer streams because of this opinion.

An option to use tap or hold would really allow both mindsets on the subject.

Well, yeah, if you're using a mechanical keyboard, it'd definitely be ungodly loud and very harmful. Why don't you play Killer instead? No tapping involved.

I agree with this, mashing for a full 60 seconds is not good on your hand. Holding it would make it less tedious and annoying.
