So are events just going to be spend more money, earn less stuff?
You know, every single thing you add or change about the game doesn't have to be a new microtransaction, right? You guys make a ton of money on this game. It's okay for a holiday event to just be some fun stuff we earn without it being multiple things for sale (outfits/skins/premium rift, rift levels) while simultaneously taking away the event currency people were free to earn in previous events.
You're making a video game, try to just make it fun sometimes.

You know it. BHVR's willing to throw everything aside to earn more money, including any goodwill they still had with their playerbase. Corporate greed ruins everything.

If you don't like it, you can go play Civilizations, remember?
BHVR has shown, year after year, that they cannot learn from their own mistakes. Instead, they follow up with new ones on top of the old. Last years event was terrible, but this new one blows even that out of the water. History repeats itself.

So, fun story, I wasn't here for last year's event. I got the game on launch day in 2016, but quit shortly thereafter once I noticed survivors could infinite me at many windows because back then there were no entity blockers.
I rejoined this year with the Silent Hill chapter, and while I heard there were some serious issues with previous events, it still sounded kinda fun to earn currency to buy skins.
The 4th anniversary event was alright, a lot of cakes and silliness. This one so far has been tremendously terrible. The most barebones nothingness I could've possibly imagined. But based on what I'm hearing now, it sounds like next year's will probably be just a giant price tag to buy another price tag.

It's not history repeating itself, it's a company doubling down on displaying how willing they are to cannibalize the good-will of a community and player base for short-term profit.
Dead by Daylight: BEhavior - Horror game. Perfect for Halloween. Awful Halloween event that doesn't do anything different, offers no free skins without 200+ hour investment.
Overwatch: ACTIVISION Blizzard - Shooty shooter game; almost nothing to do with Halloween or Horror. Three full skins for three different characters for, you know, actually playing the game. And a bunch of chances to get older Halloween skins with the current currency or the boxes you get daily and from leveling up.
BEhavior looking greedier than Activision. That ain't a good look.

The funny thing is they should be hosting a free weekend (or week!) for DBD and giving out unique skins to anyone playing around Halloween to get new players invested, instead of trying to beat the wallets of the existing users to death.
They do have free weekends from time to time, but around Halloween when everyone is looking for spooky stuff, they should REALLY just be handing the game out and then giving people some goodies to keep permanently so they're in the ecosystem.

That's actually the smartest decision they could make. Get people to buy their game to keep the skins and keep playing

AND EXISTING PLAYER RETENTION! I spend tons of money in this game. Right now, I have zero incentive to play this game and a bunch of incentive to play other games because, well, they have an event. Sad that the events of shooters outpaces the events of a horror game during Halloween. Can't be that hard to make a Halloween event in your Halloween-inspired game. I mean, sure sounds like they've done it before.
