2 killer gen nerfs... OoO is ok though🤯
The change to pop was even a surprise when they announced it... Even more so when their reasoning drew similarities to DS (with DS far more abusable) and they never responded about the similarities.
Fast forward to patch going live and we got a secret nerf to Discordance too. Because killers said it didn't make sense that yellow was better than purple, they just made them all useless rather than reversing the alert timer per perk tier.
And now they've officially said they aren't addressing OoO🤯.
Can an actual developer please explain any of this? Is it really this lopsided?
Is it because Survivor mains buy more cosmetics and battle passes?
That's the only reason I can even fathom of why this game would nerf 2 killer perks that never got complained about while ignoring an ENTIRE forum full of legitimate comparisons to DS and confirming (which is rare) that the most toxic perk stays as is?

Because killers are obvioulsy OP.
Haven´t you seen the stats, where Pig is S tier and the Clown is more lethal than the Huntress and Nurse?
62 -
Where can I see these statistics?
3 -
You’re looking at this all wrong, anyone who accuses the devs of “only nerfing killers” is.
The reason I say this is because killers aren’t the ones who spend the most money on this game, it’s survivors. They’re the cash cows. Why do you think SWF was never addressed after FOUR years? Because statistics show that people are more likely to spend money on a game if they enjoy it with companionship (SWF).
Survivors always get nerfed, however, they get nerfed last. They hold the changes off long enough until the killer base drops, so they end up changing things so killers come back or don’t all leave. The reason is obvious, no killers, no survivors playing with friends, therefore no revenue being generated.

I wish you wouldn't have used "whataboutism" in the Title.
Discordance is a handholding type of Perk, but I can't tell you the exact reason it was changed.
Survivors do make up the majority of players. The game was designed that way (4:1 ratio). In general, it does seem logical that survivors would be making more purchases. Also, survivors play in third person, so they can spend more time appreciating their cosmetics.
I wish I could give you a good reason as to why some complaints are seemingly ignored while others receive a noticeable amount of attention. I can't give you a good reason.

Yesterdays Q&A Dev stream

You seem to be bad at math
3 -
More like - he is one of the reasons why we usually dont get stats.
5 -
That as well, yes
3 -
Care to elaborate?
0 -
Those that published were averages, and anyone who studied basic statistics knows that drawing conclusions just from the average measure of a pool is simply wrong
Those statistics only show the negative iq required to play Freddy, nothing more
5 -
Ah i knew, i missed something. I forgot to put the /S after my first comment.
My bad!
10 -
A “hand-holdy” type of perk? What does that mean, exactly? Discordance doesn’t actually do anything in itself, it only gives the killer information in certain circumstances. If that’s considered “hand-holdy” then so are the vast majority of perks in the game.
8 -
This would indeed have helped since people were already unironically saying that Pig is better than Spirit.
6 -
I mean the nerfs are prety marginal at best.
You can still get to any gen with pop. The only time this nerf matters is if you win a short chase while it's active at which point you're already winning
Discordance nerf only makes the first 2 tiers bad. Outside of that it's bassicly the same except it doesn't barrage you with sound queue's anymore.
These nerfs hardly make them unplayable.

Handholding (noun) the provision of careful support or guidance to someone during a learning process or a period of change.
Guidance and information don't do anything? Please...
I should have been more specific. Yes, many perks in the game handhold. (See definition above.) Also, I'm not implying that handholding perks are inherently good or bad. Making decisions based on accurate information is a good thing, so I think everyone should use a detection perk. Personally, I don't have a problem with handholding perks being made worse. The new version of Discordance may be worse than before, but it still serves it's purpose well. I don't think we need a learning or teaching style of perk for every aspect of the game. This may be quite the assumption, but I don't think you'd want to find yourself in a situation where you can't play the game without a very specific perk. Eventually, you might want to have the option of riding your bike without training wheels.

I didn't say unplayable. I said the changes weren't asked for and 1 wasn't even disclosed to us. Pop is useless now unless you're using bbq. You probably can get to any gen... Issue is not every gen has progression. And you don't have enough time to second guess. Did you say Discordance only affected 2 tiers?! That's 2/3s of it. Plus even 96 meters will miss gens on big maps. So not only was it not disclosed, it was entirely neutered compared to what it was. I wish F13 was still relevant... That damn lawsuit is the only thing that saved THIS toxic mess.
4 -
You are funny 😂.
If Discordance is hand goldy (🤭). What is OoO? Oh I forgot you use another fake word to keep from answering relevant things.
10 -
If you'd spend less than ten seconds searching for a definition of handholding, you might realize it is a real word.
1 -
On the one hand, not a fan of whattaboutism. On the other, they are hiding behind stats that they themselves deliberately skewed.
And apparently they skewed them so they could hide behind them.
11 -
You’re unironically calling Discordance a crutch perk, lol. I feel like you must be trolling so I’m gonna stop taking the bait now. Have a nice afternoon.
8 -
You've got to understand wraith is like the strongest killer in the game though
9 -
I don't like searchawordism. It's kind of a eyesie-closie habit I find
5 -
The lawsuit is over, victor won, just now sean will probably appeal
0 -
It's in appeals. It looks like Miller owns the name and back story and cunningham owns the likeness of the hockey mask wearing adult.
So it'll be nearly impossible to use Jason for anything as of right now.
3 -
Idk about that, they already announced a reboot coming out so you could be wrong.
1 -
You don't use a dictionary? Do you just take another person's word for it when they give you a definition? That's a weird flex.
Whataboutism is real word too.
whataboutism (noun) the technique or practice of responding to an accusation or difficult question by making a counteraccusation or raising a different issue
0 -
They don't want to nerf/rework OoO. That tells me everything i need to know.
16 -
Idk. I'll try to find the article later and quote you with a link. Stephen King even wanted to write a novella about jason based on his life just being killed over and over called "I, Jason." But abandoned it after seeing the legal hoops he'd have to jump through.
1 -
Naw... To many isms in them anymore.
1 -
That doesn't seem very prudent.
0 -
Indeed...
I'm not a prudentist, as I find prudentism infuriating.

If you spend the full duration of pop to find a gen to kick you're not using the perk effectivilly anyway you should have a general idea of which gens are the ones you need to protect. Pls don't spend time traveling to a gen in the corner in the map to pop it that's just a waste of time
Same for discordance if you're ever more then 96 m from gens you want to protect you're already doing it wrong
So in short if you use the perks right then barrely nothing changed
2 -
Ya know, he was just joking?
4 -
Might be true for him, but clearly not for others, like I said here:
0 -
Pop is about getting the most regression value so finding a gen with progress is key. Not every match is 'find a 3 gen and camp it' situation. Discordance is used to find multiple people to determine and separate teams. Which strengthens my point on OoO... Which could be used to ensure a team works on the farthest gen possible. Which makes this topic even more valid.
Thanks😃
1 -
The OoO reply was very embarrassing.
I think I even blushed.
5 -
I thought about it but I'm not a fan of signism. And I'm actively anti spellitoutism😆
0 -
I mean, ive never lost as pig so...
0 -
Yeah, it doesn't count as a loss if you dc before the end... JK
0 -
Lol I'm being serious. Ive actually never lost with her.
0 -
I figured. I just thought it'd be a good chuckle.
0 -
It was 😆
1 -
PLEASE, tell me your joking
1 -
seems that a lot of players can't stop talking about "whataboutism" to save their lives
1 -
Honestly listening to Ethan drone on about statistics and dismissing killer concerns was so irritating.
9 -
Worst part is this is just a venting format as I know this thread nor any like it will end up viewed by BHVR...
5 -
Even if it is, they'll find a way to dismiss or ignore the criticism.
3 -
Stats always change remember how they said that the clown was op and he never was. Stats change all the time. Not only that killers aren’t OP. It just depends on who plays the killer. But stats aren’t always accurate
1 -
The way they talk about the statistics really worries me.
They provide us with statistics which say Nurse is the weakest killer and Pig is top 3
Then use those egregious statistics which are obviously flawed as their basis for reworking/not reworking perks and killers.
Hearing Almo drone on about why their secret stats are reliable while simultaneously dismissing the only statistics they show us as unreliable makes me wonder what kind of logic they use when they say OoO is fine.
I imagine something along the lines of "Person with OoO doesn't escape more than 25% of the time? Perk must be fine." Can't wait for MMR to use the same system.
4 -
Sadly, too many companies fail because of this... Early on data can drive decisions but you reach a point in success and popularity where statistics are just cold numbers and you have to listen to the voices behind the numbers.
