PC - Groaning Storehouse - Can't place traps by gates

I played trapper yesterday on the Groaning Storehouse map and was unable to place traps in front of either of the gates. Seemed to be in a radius around the gates, though thats just speculation on my part. EGC was active (did not try to place any traps there before that) and the gates were closed.
